Don't bother watching the film at all It's awful compared to the series (Clannad that is).
Most people tell me the manga ending to death note is better than the anime but I haven't read it. Personally I thought the anime was tied up nicely if somewhat predictably but I suppose that couldn't really be helped.
Edit: Filipino panda. If Clannad is making you sad now then I have to warn you after story is going to break your heart.
I already finished the after story..
huhu yesterday so sad but so good!
i want another anime to watch
"Sometimes I Wish I could save you. And there's so many things that I want you to know.. I won't give up tillit'sover, if it takes you forever I want you to know that...If you fall, stumble down, I'll pick you up off the ground. If you lose faith in you, I'll give you strength to pull through. Tell me you won't give up 'causeI'll be waiting if you fall, you know, I'll be there for you." -Save You by Simple Plan

I've watched about half of Kanon, what I saw was really good but it is super sad so I took a break and I still need to go back and finish it. Air is on my to watch list.
I watched the final episode of Darker than Black season 1 earlier. It was ... ok I was expecting it to be a bit of a more climatic ending. The series was good, but I think it could have been better I think i'll watch something else before I move on to season 2.
EDIT: Just watched My Neighbour Totoro. It was so adorable oh my god. I want a catbus to drive me everywhere!

Right now I think I'm going to start Fruits Basket.
Haven't seen it in a long time. :)

So I decided to suck it up and finish watching Kanon. I forgot how hilarious it is, the writers have done an amazing job! Some parts are just as sad as I remember though, I just finished episode 14 and I shed a few tears.
I also have no idea what to watch after this, I learned that a lot of the anime on my to watch list hasn't actually been dubbed yet, and I know a lot of people much prefer subs but I just can't watch anything with subtitles. I think it's the movement on the screen while i'm reading, it gives me a bit of a headache and sometimes makes me feel a bit nauseous.
So if anyone can recommend me an anime to watch next i'm looking for something that has a bit of action and suspense, and a lot of anime i've really enjoyed has some sort of supernatural element to it, but I don't think that's completely necessary for me to enjoy it :P
I didn't like subbed anime at first, but eventually I caved. Makes it much easier to find watchable anime. It's too bad it gives you a headache.
Anyways, I'd suggest to keep a lookout for whenever K (Project K / K anime / K ) gets dubbed. In the mean time, a couple that might be decent are Busou Renkin and Ikkitousen. At first glance, the dubs for Busou Renkin might be a bit bad, but it's worth a shot. The anime is pretty good. Ikkitousen has pretty good dubs, I think. Also, I saw Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagannon your list. I think that's a pretty decent anime. Don't know about the dubs, but I'm pretty sure they're out there.
In any case, I'm watching Death Note right now. It's quite good to say the least.
I just started watching Shin Sekai Yori, I'm only a couple of episodes in but it seems alright so far, It's a sort of super natural mystery about a school where kids learn to control telekinesis. We'll have to see how it develops.
I also really need to get round to watching Gurren Laagen.
I haven't seen dragonball z since I was a kid, lol. Brings back memories. Also can't convince myself to watch Azumanga Daiyoh, mainly because I think I'll be upset with the general randomness. Lack of a story and all that.
Gurren Lagann is pretty good. Definitely worth watching. Haven't seen Shin Sekai Yori yet, haven't even looked at it. I'll have to look into it.
Currently watching Code Geass. Middle of season 1 and I'm pretty much completely hooked.

If you can get past the horrible theme song, it's worth it just for the horrifically funny bits. It's very nicely paced and not -that- random. There is a day to day feel to it all and the characters go through school and change grades and end up graduating. What I also like is that there are a lot of characters who are all very different and have very realistic personalities, so it's quite easy to get attached and be happy for them and feel giddy when they are. :p It's just very silly, which is great if you're just watching it for a laugh. Also, the English dub is really good. And you also have the teachers which add a lot of adult humor to it... and one of the teachers is just amazing. lol. I highly recommend it and am trying not to spoil it. :p
Oh man Dragonball Z by brother and I used to get up every morning to watch that, so many memories. I distinctly remember there being a lot of episodes where nothing really happened, except the 2 characters were powering up :P

Thanks for the ideas, i'll definitely check them all out :)

I love Code Geass, it is definitely in my top 10! I got completely hooked on it as well, every time I got to the end of an episode I just had to know what happened next and I would end up watching it until the early hours of the morning

Code Geass is fantastic. One of the few to make me cry too.
I have just finished watching D.Gray-Man (including the eps not released outside of Japan). I am a huge fan of the manga, but not so much the anime... I pretty much watched it whilst I'm waiting for the next manga volume to be released. Anyone considering this should just read the manga, trust me.
"Zeus did not want man to throw his life away, no matter how much the other evils might torment him, but rather to go on letting himself be tormented anew. To that end, he gives man hope. In truth, it is the most evil of evils because it prolongs man's torment."
I liked Full Metal Panic. I've only seen the first season so far, but I definitely liked it.
I'll have to look into D Gray Man. Seems like an interesting concept. Haven't heard of it before. I usually prefer to see anime, but I might give the manga a go.
I'm watching Guilty Crown now. I'm already halfway through it, and I'm completely hooked.
If you do go for the anime of D Gray Man, the entire second season (except for the first and last episode) is fillers. The anime is 103 episodes long so you might not want to bother with these fillers! Also if you're a dub person they haven't dubbed it beyond season 2 and don't look likely to.
Like I said, basically you really want to go for the manga instead! At the moment there are 23 volumes but the anime in its 103 episodes only goes as far as vol 16 anyway. It's a bit mediocre...

@Eccentrics: Let me know how you like Lucky Star. I've been considering watching that as well since someone recommended it to me. I've been watching a lot of really dark stuff recently, anyways, and it would be nice to see a good, light hearted anime.
@-Stewie-: Thanks for the heads up. And luckily, I'm a sub guy. I tend to enjoy subs a lot more than dubs. In any case, I think I'll check out the manga first (whenever I get done with the animes I intend to watch next). Then I might go back and watch the anime.
In other news, I finished Guilty Crown. I loved it, and I recommend it to anybody who doesn't already have something to watch. Kind of dark, but definitely worth a watch.
I just started watching Steins;Gate. First episode left me confused, but interested. It seems like it's going to be good so far. It seems to have some interesting characters. Can't wait to see how it progresses.
