Wound Care Question - Stitches - Need to come out? Advice Please

Cut on 23rd. Had stitches at A&E.
Stitches always seemed a bit too tight to me...the skin bulges out a bit in between stitches, like a quilt iyswim.
They dug into the skin and now skin is actually starting to grow over them a bit. Skin is a bit red and irritated, not a big deal but it's really annoying me now.
Have an appointment at GP surgery on Weds to have stitches removed. However I called 111 earlier to check and was advised to go to A&E.
I can't say I fancy spending (more) hours at A&E. I am already hated there for being a 'frequent attender' with self-harm/ mental health issues, and there is one particular doctor who knowing my luck I would get who hates me and has had me in tears after seeing him before.
It's going to hurt removing them if they're embedded isn't it? Would GP surgery even do it or will they just send to A&E anyway?
If leaving them for another couple of days will cause a huge issue, could get infected etc and mean I end up in A&E anyway, I will go but not keen if I can avoid it.

Tbh we can't advice you to go against medical advice.

All I can say is that maybe you could get an OOH appointment or get your nurse appt brought forward? I wouldn't worry too much. Even if the skin has completely healed over the stitches it's not an emergency unless you are getting other symptoms from it.

Could you get an emergency GP appt tomorrow or go to a walk-in centre otherwise?

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I am afraid I have to close this thread as medical advice has already been sought. Cgbutterly, as 111 advised you to go to A&E, I hope you are able to go.
