The way I've always heard it is that she had the idea on a train, not stole it on a train. Even if she stole the idea on the train, she still came up with the world surrounding the idea. No idea is original, and so unless the guy on the train sat down with her and explained step by step by step everything that happened in all seven books, she was still responsible for the majority of the creative process.
