I do love my Mac though, but I would be equally happy with a Windows one. I've used Linux as well, which worked fine as well. I like that on my laptop I can scroll using two fingers on the trackpad, and when I use a friend's I'm always trying to do that and not getting anywhere! Makes things a lot easier/comfier.

I'm sure you must be able to put the Mac OS onto a non-Apple computer, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I find it a lot less fiddly/clunky than Windows, but I can and do use both fine.

Yeah, I understand that. It's like, you look good on paper but you worry that they won't like you in person or you won't do the job to the appropriate ability? However, you've got the experience and it's certainly going to help you. I've found that I have to literally force myself to think positively to get anywhere - and it is harder than it looks! Good luck with it, anyway :).

I have an Apple Mac Laptop. It's great and worth the price. To buy a cheaper laptop and then add the extras will probably turn out more expensive. Little (and big) things mount up quickly price wise!

Hooray for icloud - an application where you can send something from one computer, ipad etc, to every electronic device that you choose to in the house. ipods, iphones, laptops, ipads, computers etc.

Geek moment over!

I downloaded iCloud as it was suggested when I got the latest service update for my iPhone but found it didn't have anything worth using really. Was dissapointing as it was made out to be a complete innovation yet didn't seem to offer anything I couldn't do already quite easily, heh.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with your computer. For the vast majority of people, a cheap(ish) laptop will be perfectly adequate, and even if they do choose to upgrade or add on things it will still be cheaper than a entry-level Mac. I do love my Mac, but I also acknowledge that it is very expensive for what you get.

This is coming from the person who doesn't own an iPod or iPhone or anything like that. I have an mp3 player, just not an iPod.

All this computer talk is confusing!
My laptop looks like it's on its way to laptop heaven soon, or at least a rather expensive repair outlet =S

*hugs thread*

The whole mac/windows argument, its just comes down to expensive, pretty and generally stable, vs potentially unstable but very customisable
and as a mac can run windows now or a virtual wondows, most software can be ran
sure putting macOS on a pc would have driver issues, I think that the whole reason they're so stable is because only certain hardware is supported, so there isn't so many compatibility issues like we get with windows

Have you tried turning it off and back on again? - jk, what's wrong with it?

My PC gave up on new years eve morning, I think it just needed a hug as its working now, took till mid afternoon to get it going again though, think I've figured out its problem but can't decide if I should spend £30 for a quick fix, or £600-1k to upgrade replacing all the bits that might be a problem

why didn't I write this tomorrow? today? later, new year was a bit of a late night 4am!!! but a successful night in terms of fun and apparently I can cook :) why do I only even seem to write on here when I should be sleeping? Ramblin and randomish, 5hours sleep isn't enough when its nearly 1am

I'm going to stop typing now, good mornight :)

That's not even a daft question with me; I had trouble turning on the television today
Anyway, the laptop only charges when it's balanced in a certain way, and unfortunately I don't think it's a problem with the cable, I think it's the internal connection. WOE.
