Almost 2 Years Strong but Struggling....
Hi, my name is Erin. I'm 19 and it's been about a year and 9 months since I last self injured. But the last few days it has been on my mind alot. It seems that I seem to make it to 2 years and then mess up, or that I'm triggered around Christmas and I'm not sure why. I couldn't really think of anyone to talk to right now about this but i found this site. I feel so much like it I could just do it ONCE I would feel better, and I am trying to think of the cons of self injuring.

I've been about 5 years free from cutting and 3 years free from ODing. (Which was my way of sh)
I often get urges to cut and I have slipped up twice in those 5 years, however when I actually did it I got none of the relief that I used to get. I just felt guilty and ashamed.
You might get the urge but try to fight it because you have come so far without it I'm sure you must have other coping mechanisms now and they probably work better then sh anyway now it's been almost 2 years of using them.

Well done on 1 year 9 months free, that's a fantastic achievement!
You say just doing it once would make you feel better- do you think that's true? Do you think that you could just do it once, feel fine and then go another 1 year 9 months? I find that once I slip, I fall very far and that's what motivates me to keep going (I'm 1 year 4 months).
Have you managed to come up with any cons for your list?
Keep fighting; you can do this :)

Well done on coming so far. Maybe you could make a list of the cons of self harming. It would be a shame to slip up now, but if you do then just remember we all have slip ups and it doesn't take away from how well you've done, or make you any less of a good person. I'm glad you've found this site and I hope it helps you.
