i dont think id do it.
but each to their own.
i think the suggestion of something like, symbolic to ryl or its causes would be better.
It would eliminate a lot of questions that could just get relaly annoying to answer all the time.
I hesitate to weigh in on what is, for most members, a highly sensitive subject. But, as has been said, everyone owns their own body and can of course do what they like - tho' if I SIed I think I'd prefer to wear the appropriate bracelets rather than take on a tattoo which is permanent.
I've actually never really understood the tattooing thing anyway but, again, each to their own. However, I was in a pub recently when a young woman bent down for whatever reason revealing in the small of her back (below the bottom of her top and above the top of her bottom - God, this is getting Irish!) a Chinese tattoo. I said to the farmer friend I was talking to "wow, I wonder what that means?" Quick as a flash he replied "second h*le down!" Now I begin to understand!
i would really like to see your pic, if i remember rightly i saw some tatoos done in mirror writing on the pic board - are they yours too? anyway i thought it looked awesome and would seriously consider getting my 2nd tattoo in that style.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
I got a tattoo with the initials of self harm, s h. people ask me all the time what it means, but i don't know what to answer!
My RYL family:
I-used-to-be-positive is my big sister razorxkissedxwrists is my mommy alyssa.star is my sister phoenixflames_forever is my cousin concreteangel, helpmydeath, xxbeckyxx and queer fringe are my little sisters bob--says--hi is my twin
I understand your reasoning behind the tattoo. I've got a tattoo of a butterfly on my ankle, which represents me coming through (or attempting to recover from) all of the crap in my life, eg self harming, being in hospital etc.
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
I just got a heart on my wrist because well, i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and also it works with TWLOHA.
I don't know actually having RYL tattoed somewhere could actually be quiet cool. I'm all for tattoos representing important things to you cause well..you will be stuck with it forever. and also like you say, we've got our scars, why not balance it out with something pretty. Plus I personally wouldn't mind answering the questions that come with RYL what does that mean? cause well, I'm all for awareness.
I think go for it mate, because like others have said, it's your body. If it means something to you *nods* then do it.
Life can be beautiful if you let it.
Step back, breathe and take it in
I actually just got a mirror and held it to my screen,
and actually - i think its BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely gorgeous.
I'd definatly say go for it. As it's backwards, if people questioned you and you felt uncomfortable at any stage in replying, you could give any meaning to it!
I think it's a very good idea! And you definatly get my vote.
It's something that quite obviously means alot to you, which is definatly the main thing.
It's a shame you've had such a negative response before you had even had time to give your reasonings behind it.
*hug*
Can't wait to see the final product if you do get it done! :)
x
this is completley unrelated.
but this girl i know from work, she got a tattoo & i saw pictures of it on her facebook & her tattoo is of some chinese words. i really hope she uploaded the picture upside down because otherwise the chinese words are written the wrong way round and i don't have the heart to tell her.
And I didn't hold a mirror and knew what it said. Just a word of warning in case you wanted to try and pass it off as something else. That may be because I am looking for it...or just because I can see it. I don't know.
That tattoo is really gorgeous. I didn't need a mirror either but I also had a clue as to what I was looking for. It's incredibly beautiful writing.
I have got 3 stars on my foot that represent past, present and future. x
