I've done it a couple of times, but the club nights just don't suit me really. It's a very repetitive sport, it's all about being able to repeat the same moves and the same stance and ultimately getting the same result. Obviously things differ because of weather and things, but it's very same-y.

I don't see the problem. If someone has tried a new sport or activity as a result of a film, then what's the problem? Archery is quite a niche sport, and probably welcomes the exposure to it.

Oh yeah, i dont mind people shooting because they saw it on THG. I never said that.
What i meant was, there are so many people going "OMG look" *insert 14 year old with a bow and arrow pic here* "IM Katniss!"
Thats what i dont like. I find it annoying.
I enjoyed it, just not as much as other sports. I prefer fencing. The night the archery club runs didn't really suit me, but it was incredibly cheap. I think it was £30 for the year (both indoor and outdoor) and all equipment is supplied.
I can only imagine that the fencing they teach at Center Parcs is nothing compared to proper fencing. They'll probably teach you how to stand and how to lunge, but not much else. Although, to be honest, if they taught people properly you probably wouldn't even touch a sword until a couple of hours in.
Hey Scrabble, If you love it so much as are obviously really enthusiastic about it have you thought about trying to get your instructors licence? it's quite expensive to do but well worth it! im a qualifed archery instructor and have been for about 4 years now. I got it through my job (i'm a youth worker n we have our own range on site.) just finished working there after doing the job for years and other than my young people being out on the range after work or being out there teaching the kids is one of the things i miss the most! its a wonderful sport to pass onto others and something good just to keep you going too. can send you some info if you want on courses and stuff it is expencive but if you can afford it it's well worth it! good luck x
I am indeed was honestly one of the best things ive done as can be a good focus and distraction to as well as really rewarding teaching others too! will pm you some links over tomorrow then. where in the world are you btw (will just help me send over the right stuff) hope ya good x
I shoot a home-made longbow haha. It's getting old though, like 6 years old? and I might get a proper bow next year if I decide to go shooting at the range near my school. I've always loved archery (even better on horseback) but I'm not particularly good. Not very good at any sport really but whatever, it's fun <3
(As a side note, I shoot rifles at the local range xD a bit noisier than with bows)
One day, you asked me to choose between you and my life,
I chose my life and you left,
But you didn't know that My Life is you.
Never had the money to actually do it, but as a kid who was obsessed with swords and bows, I definitely found my own ways to get into it. Like making my own bow out of the scrap wood in my grandparents' basement (he happened to be a carpenter, so there were plenty of tools). I have to say, it was tillered perfectly, even if it wasn't an ideal piece of wood. Arrows were harder, though...
I'm maybe watching too much Teen Wolf but lately I've been having these weird desire to go out and shoot something with an arrow so I'll take the safer way and go to a shooting range
