Are any of the other patients having EMDR or do any of the staff know much about it? Maybe someone could help you come up with an idea for a safe place.

No one really knows or has it as far as I'm aware.

I'm now really panicking about our meeting tomorrow and on top of that my review.

Just wanted to say that when I did EMDR and couldn't think of a safe place in real life, my safe place was then a made-up place - I chose a forest with the pony I rode as a child. Perhaps making up a safe place could be something you ask your therapist about? (Unless it has to be a safe place in real life that is)

I'm hoping your review goes well <3

x

Thank you so much. Problem is I've been trying to make up a safe place but haven't had any luck with it. Everything seems to trigger me and I'm stuck for ideas x

Sorry if this had already been suggested but why not try making a mood board? Maybe the staff can help you get hold of some magazines, holiday ones, home ones, fashion ones, maybe even children's ones if you find those things nurturing. It might help you establish colours, moods, places, items etc. that you find more comforting than others. It might help in the sense that it's a little helping hand towards your imagination too as it's already visual.

I've heard of people imagining there is an angel covering them with their wings, or they are enveloped in a calming colour, or even just focusing on a symbol that means something to them. Is that sort of stuff allowed if helpful? Shouldn't your psychologist be first focusing on helping you create a safe place and not moving on with EMDR until that is sorted?

Thank you that is a good idea.

I'm not sure I'd have to ask.

I don't know.

Just found out my section 3 is being renewed.

I'm sorry you're so upset. Not taking your meds would just make you stuck in hospital for longer though. I know it's hard and upsetting but you need to work with the staff so you can move forward from here. I hope your review and psychology session go well today.

You're right it was a bad move. They blackmailed into me taking meds again because they said they have taken my leave away til at least Friday.

I didn't properly see the psychologist I was so upset about my section renewal and my review and losing my leave and I was so tired so she just said she'd see me Monday at 11

A little, thanks for asking. Slept a lot. Read for a bit. Had a bath and shower. Did some colouring. But I'm very upset because my mum isn't taking me to my friend's funeral and my only hope is my care company but I don't know if they're allowed because of responsibility etc. I hopefully find out tomorrow. I'll be gutted if I can't go. I need to go. Hopefully I get my leave back tomorrow so I can go to my flat with my Dad.

I hope something can be sorted out so you can say goodbye. If not maybe you could do something personal yourself. How is today going so far?

The support workers have agreed to support me with it so now I just need the hospital to agree.

Not in a good mood as my leave hasn't been signed so it looks like I can't go out with my Dad to my flat today. So disappointed and upset.

That's a shame. When will you next have a chance to get your leave sorted? What have you done today instead?

My leave is signed but only to go out with staff and family. There's been a mistake it should include 2 of my church friends on there, one of which I was meant to be going to church and breakfast with this Sunday but because of how they've written my leave I don't think I can now.

This evening I went out to hospital shops with a staff member for around 20 minutes. Tomorrow I am going out with my Dad hopefully for most of the day to my flat.

Oh that's a pain about them not including your church friends on the leave form. Is there anyone you can ask about it before tomorrow?

I hope today has gone well with your dad.

We’ll find a way to fight it, we always have.
It's not how tragically we suffer but how miraculously we live.
