If people want to feel better about themselves, they can do it in a lot of other better ways than that. That's just a shallow site all over, IMO.
Edit:
& IMO, that's quite shallow & superficial to say "honestly, i think it has a point.. no one wants to date an ugly person."
Looks should not come into dating. Yeah, looks do count for something, but if you're gonna date someone, & you end up being with them for a long time, looks should not matter, their personality should.
You could be gorgeous, & have a very ugly personality.
I'd prefer ugly + good personality than beautiful + ugly personality.
I'm just stating my opinion, that's what we do here, so...yeah. I think it's quite shallow & can make things worse in the long run.
It's my opinion & you don't have to agree with it, but you should accept it, it's not going to change.
Like I said, I'm sticking to my opinion, I'm stating it, & everyone else can have their opinion, I'm not trying to "devalue" anything, I'm just stating that I don't think that & I think otherwise.
Shesh.
Thanks for all the replies/debating :)
Okay, i would multi quote, but I dont know how to, lol
I think the concept is very shallow, and the way it has been marketed seems to be very elitist and arrogant. However, some good points have been made such as wanting to be with people who acknoledge they are attractive, but want to be seen more as a person rather than a sex object type thing.
I also agree with the fact there a lots of specific dating websites, and that people may join just to see if they really are attractive and what people thought of them.
But it could really enhance people insecuries and low self esteem.
I think the thing that bothers me the most is that in the article, they're calling people "fatties". That's just plain rude. Why would somebody call another person that, it's nobody's place to be pointing out other people's weight. I mean unless your a doctor and are actually trying to help the person. But even then, doctors have more tact than that.
Also yesterday, when I said the website was stupid, I meant the whole concept is stupid (to me at least) I just think society is too judgmental when it comes to appearances, something I think, personally, should be changed. This website is only fueling the fire.
I never meant to offend anybody when I said it was stupid. I probably worded it wrong as I was having a bad day yesterday. The concept is stupid to me, but of course that does not mean everybody on the website is stupid, although I do think it's shallow still.
I understand where people are coming from with the hypocrisy - however.... I would deem this website to be in league with the glamorisation of ED's and SH.... I also pity these people and sites too, in a very different way. (Which if needs, I will go into, but it's very long and so I'll leave it at that.)

Think about this debate next time you post a picture of yourself in the Compliments picture thread.
I think the difference between that website and the "compliments picture thread" is these people are making themselves feel good by potentially hurting another person and saying that person is unattractive, therefore, not worthy enough to be on the site.
I can see where you're coming from though.
