Triggering (SI) - What do I do

My mother found out about my SI today and made me promise to stop. How do I make myself do it? She says she's gonna start checking my arms!!

*hugs* speak to her. explain some stuff about it. when my mum first found out, she was really angry, she tried to make me stop. i couldnt, then she looked into it and researched it, now shes really understanding, i can wear short sleeved tops around her and stuff, and go to her if i cut too deep. you need to explain to your mum that you need self harm, and that you are willing to try and stop, but its not just gonna happen overnight, i suggest making a doctors appointment and see about getting some help for it. this will help you and also show your mum that you are serious about stopping.

Thanks for the hugs all! Nicole, my mom wasn't really like angry, she was just like "Why?" a lot. and I couldn't answer it. My mom I think has researched it, not sure.

My mother was like that when she found out, and she checked my arms all the time for ages after finding out.
If she's researched it, she should be able to understand at least a little bit about how hard it would be for you to just stop.
