blood test
Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place for this thread but mods please move it if necessary.
So anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes to get blood test results back? My doctor is ending me for a blood test on tuesday and I kinda wish I could get the results there and then so I know whats going to happen.

Whenever I have had a blood test the person taking the blood lets me know when I can contact the surgery for the results. Typically 3-5 working days.

it all depends, they can be back fast as in A&E (or at least here) they can be back within 4 hours even if its busy, generally speaking bloods done at the doctors are back within a week unless they've been sent as urgent

It depends on how busy the surgery is I think... Mine come back the morning after I get mine done.

It depends also on what the blood test is for. If it is for HIV its 2 weeks, if it is for full blood count, kidney or liver function tests, and is not urgent, its usually 3-5 working days but they will always tell you when you have it done, and when to call back for your result.
If they get the result and feel concerned they normally contact you as soon as they know the result rather than wait for you to call up to enquire.

It also depends on where it's getting done. If it's a super duper fancy test, they may have to ship it somewhere else to get it tested.
But a week is about normal.

If whoever is taking the blood doesn't tell you automatically, you can just ask them how long it's likely to be.
I hope the results come back quickly so you don't have to wait too long :)

If you're in England, then usually standard priority NHS blood tests come back in around 3-4 days.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
