There are two powers I'd really like.
The first is teleportation.
That would be awesome.
There is so much to see in the world.
The second would be a power similar to Molly Walker's for those of you heroes watchers.
I want to be able to think about something or someone and know where it or they are.
Some of us fall by the wayside
Some of us soar to the stars
Some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars
Have you heard John Hodgeman's story that was on NPR about Flight vs. Invisibility?
Ok this is a bit late, but I couldn't find it online so I ended up buying a cheap copy of it.
If you're interested, it's a story told by John Hodgman on the radio programme This American Life analysing the simple question "Flight or invisiblilty?" and how the answer says a lot about a person. It's 12:34 minutes long.
I really enjoyed reading this thread. I burst out laughing at Benji and Narcissism. Very creative answers.
I think reading minds would be a nightmare because I can't stand the constant chatter in my own head, never mind hearing others.
I almost chose invisibility, simply because I have a social phobia and it would allow me to go out shopping without anxiety or panic. Then I thought that invisibility would be better than mind reading because in invisible mode you could simply eve's drop or stalk people if you really wanted to know what they were thinking. (so I guess what Alithaven said was right - since stalking is a crime.)
But when I read what brokensunset said - Regeneration - I was sold. I'm just too old and decrepid to not choose regeneration.
And one last note to silverfaerychild... I've talked to snakes, and it's amazing what they don't have to say.
Hi all. If you can have any superpower in the world, what would it be?
Mine would probably to read minds. It would be cool to read minds
I wouldn't want to read minds because I am already suffering from terrible social anxiety and body dysphoria as it is, constantly afraid that people are judging me negatively. To have my fears confirmed would be a nightmare.
Invisibility would be a useful one, but it wouldn't be my top choice. After all, being invisible wouldn't stop you being solid and so you'd have to avoid crowds like the plague. Also, you'd have to make sure no one ever found out about your invisibility power because then they'd try to track you with thermal detectors (being invisible wouldn't stop you from being warm either). Invisibility would also be pretty crap in the snow!
I think I would probably choose the ability to remember absolutely everything. Just imagine what one could invent/discover with such a power...
I wish to be invisible so I could go on planes and into theatres and amusement parks and stuff for free cos they won't see me going in. Then I could travel the world free.
There would be many practical issues with that. Being invisible wouldn't stop you from being solid, so you would only be able to use your power to get into places for free if they were relatively empty; there's no way you could use it in a crowded place because everyone would be banging into you. If getting into places for free is your wish, then invisibility would be the wrong tool for the job. Mind control would work better: you could still visit crowded places whilst being able to mess with the attendants' minds to let you on for free.
