It's rubbish, don't, but they do make chewing gum wrapper chains that are pretty cool.

some ideas; lego men earrings, any random items such as keys or pegs can be turned into jewellry, old tights you dont like? cut a whole in the crotch and wear them as a top =].
I basically cut up anything i get bored of, and/or throw a ton of beads and ribbons on it.

I didnt know that came from that film, well, ive done it and they fall apart quite easily so probably not the best idea.
What about things like indian bracelets (not sure if they have an actual name) with various bits and bobs in them - easy to make once you know how, and if you get bored - just sell them on ebay :)
