I dont mind the normal vans - as in the actual trainers, but those ones just annoy me, they are like your grandad's slippers but for emos.

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and get back to the thread again.

Have you ever watched the Ffilm 28 days with Sandra Bullock?
It's rubbish, don't, but they do make chewing gum wrapper chains that are pretty cool.

some ideas; lego men earrings, any random items such as keys or pegs can be turned into jewellry, old tights you dont like? cut a whole in the crotch and wear them as a top =].

I basically cut up anything i get bored of, and/or throw a ton of beads and ribbons on it.

I didnt know that came from that film, well, ive done it and they fall apart quite easily so probably not the best idea.
What about things like indian bracelets (not sure if they have an actual name) with various bits and bobs in them - easy to make once you know how, and if you get bored - just sell them on ebay :)

Most lidls have a singer sowing machine for £30.
It's well worth the investment and actually works out cheaper to make your own clothes.

I used to do a little before I came to uni.

With 'alternative' you don't have to go to an alternative store to get the clothes, mix and match.
