SI Question - STD?

so im 16..and i had sex for the first time just the other week, [we used protection and everything] but ever since its been rather itchy down there..as well as a bit of an odour, mind you ive had that odour for quite a while, prolly since ive ever started getting my periods.

i reallly dont want to have to explain to my parents about the whole ordeal, does this sound like i have something? and if i do, what is it?
i also dont have a family doctor anymore, mine retired last year...
can i go to a clinic with this kind of situation, or no?

with much love,
Season xo

Infact, this is exactly the type of situation you go to the clinic with =]

Sounds to me like a yeast infection [Thrush]
Which is well easy to clear up, and also very very common.

Alot of people get a bit, well... paranoid after their first time.

But yeh, going to the clinic wont hurt =]

thanks for the quick reply:)
can you only get yeast infections from having sex? [just incase the parents find out..anyway i can bum it off on something else?]
wont it be awkward going into the clinic and telling some random doctor "i think i have a yeast infection?"
oh god, do they have to like, investigate?
and how do you clear it up? just some sort of prescribed cream or whatever?

with much love,
Season xo

You can get yeast infections anytime.
They're not necessarily sexually transmitted =]

The most likely thing is they'll just prescribe you either a pill/cream or pessary for it. It's so common I very much doubt they'd want to 'investigate'.
If, however... if doesn't clear up after using what they give you they'll probably want to poke around a bit 'down there'.
=]

Edit: Although it probably depends where you go/where you live etc.
If they did want to 'investigate' just relax, they've seen it all before. It happens to the best of us!

That itchyness can often be an indicator of thrush. HAve you used any products down there?
Also do you have a bath or a shower?

It could also be dry skin, espcially if you are washing the area frequently.
Have you ever had problems with dry skin?
You could also try to avoid using soap based cleaners.

Thrush often tends to have a discharge.
Also do you have any pain when passing water?

no to dry skin.
and no nothing unusual to pains when weeing or ejaculating.

i think its just from hair rubbing againt my boxers from my jeans/belt moving about cos i dont wear then tight or anything.

if it keeps happening will just go to the doctors, already been once to ask about stuff down below nd it aint to bad told me what to look for with STD/STI's just said watch out for redness and puss/anything unusual coming out nd pains from it.

Irene mentions a good point, some ridiculous number like 40% of women are allergic or have bad reactions to nonoxynol-9 which is the most common spermaicdal medication put on condoms and sold in stores.

A reaction could cause pain, itchyness, hives, blisters or sores, redness and make the area very tender to the touch. You shouldn't have any abnormal discharge with a reaction though.

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

what irene said lol. i'm allergic to spermicide and my lady doesnt like latex, although im fine with it anwhere else (gloves etc).

i went through a period of getting thrush constantly for 6months, i had swabs and it came back as thrush, i found using a pessary and cream good, then when i was at home, tip a small pot of natural yoghurt on, sit back and watch tv. it helps cool the itch.
