mystery...i'm pretty much in the same boat as you right now...i know exactly what you mean about them not following through...it is EXTREMELY frustrating and annoying...so i guess i just wanted to say you're not alone
...also, i think you have to find the right church for you...have you visited anywhere else? (but idk...maybe you should stay where you are..i'm just wondering...)

I've talked to a few people. One of my friends told me "Dear, I don't know whether or not you're better off not cutting... the way i see it is society looks down on it, that's why we can't"
&& I sent an e-mail to the woman who helped me to stop in the first place, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet...

Its really nice to see this thread. I love my church and the people in it, and they try to be supportive, but I think SI is something you have to experience to really get, so sometimes I just feel so alone there. And its hard to explain to nonChristians the extra added stuff that comes along with being a SIing Christian.

^^I agree. They mean well, but they just don't understand.
It's great that you have that support system there for you. People are a lot more likely to understand the things that drive you to SI than the SI itself. They have most likely felt the same way, but turned to healthier coping mechanisms.

anyways... Mormonism? what do y'all think about it?
Most of my friends are mormon, and I'm reading a book that highlights some of the differences between mormonism and christianity... but i'm curious as to whether any of you have any experience with mormons..

In my country Mormonism isn't common, but the boys that walk around the streets and say hello are usually very cute. :D I have nothing against them.

This is a cool thread. I never saw it before. Although I haven't been here for a while. I'm 21 and have been cutting since I was 14 but haven't now for about a year! I'm still kinda crappy most the times, but keepin faith. I'm Lutheran if anyones wondering.

i'll remember you in my prayers lovelybones. it can be very hard sometimes, but you will come through this, because God doesn't need us to believe he loves us, he loves us no matter how strong or weak our faith is.

I finally found the holy grail of comedy.
It's a site devoted to trashing Christian rock.
Anyone interested in the link? The main thing this guy has against Christian rock is that the band members like some secular music.
So what? So it's either Christian, or trash? He was calling the Beatles satanic. It was hysterical.

I have a bit of a prayer request... Tomorrow I have my first meeting with a Christian counsellor. I've had therapy before but not from a Christian perspective. Anyway, it wont be therapy tomorrow, more of an assesment to see if I'm suitable for therapy. I'm really anxious about attending and opening up... it's been a while since I've really talked to anyone. Thanks ^_^

lovelybones and Strict Machine, I'll be keeping both of you in my prayers.

My church offers Christian based therapy and I know they have a group for depression/grief. I've been playing with the idea of maybe contacting them and seeing about possibly going there as well as to my regular therapist, but I'm a little worried about letting anyone at church (even though I know they would keep it confidential) know about my issues.

^^ completely understand. Going to my pastor was hard, simply because I was afraid he was going to look at me as less than Christian, or something. but it all worked out, and it's nice having someone to talk to.

Hey guys. Sorry for my lack of recent activity. Senior year has been busy and stressfull. I picked where I am going to school in the fall, UMass Amherst, and I can't wait.

I'm happy. I got confirmed on Wendsday, and for my present, during the summer, I'm getting to go to Stupenville (sp?)

I've been doing alright on the stress part, a few times were kinda iffy, but I've managed to stay clear.

That's all I have to say for now. I'll be appearing around here much more often. I think it's good for me to be here.

You "got confirmed"? Do you mean that you were admitted to the college? If so, congrats.
I'm so proud of you for staying clear. :)

No, confirmation as in the church thing where you renew your batisimal promises, and you get to speak for yourself if you want to contuine being a christian.

Oh. In our church we just get baptised, and then renew our faith through prayer. New vocab lesson. Thanks.
