Bleeding

How can you tell if it's just a period or if it's abnormal bleeding, like from a kidney infection or something?
I had a mini period a couple of weeks ago which was unusual as I haven't had a period in years. But today there was more blood but more like clots?

I don't really know what to think!

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

I'm really not sure, I'd go to the doctor to be on the safe side tbh.

I'm only guessing but I would think that blood from kidneys or similar would be their when you peed rather than just there and would be associated with other symptoms like pain and fever.

I'm on a progesterone only contraceptive and get a couple of days of bleeding maybe every 1.5-2 years so I wouldn't rule it out.

It sounds like popping along to a nurse or GP in your surgery would be the best option. It is always worth checking out anything that isn't normal for you.

Thanks both

The bleeding has been only when I go to the toilet.
No real.pain to speak of though.

I have to see my gp in a couple of weeks anyway after a blood test. So I'll mention it then.

Yeah I think if it was your kidneys, you'd have blood in your urine. If the blood is there when you wipe it's more likely to be from your womb/genitals. It could be a mini period/spotting or it could be a symptom of something else. So really it is best to mention it to your GP when you see them.

There is nothing there when I wipe. Its just in my urine.
It was different the other week when im sure it was a period.
But I'll see my gp soon!

Seeing your GP sounds like a plan, I would go with sooner rather than later just in case it is an infection.

Something else to consider is that some foods can change the colour of your urine. Has your diet changed recently?

I'll book an appointment next week.

No, my diet has stayed the same.

Thanks Sarah

Was it this that you needed the antibiotics for?

Partly. I'm on antibiotics for a chest infection and bladder infection. The blood is due to the bladder infection apparently.
