Quick Query - job application

If you are applying for a job by email and it asks for a covering letter, would you attach the letter as an attached Word doc, or write it in the body of the email?

Thanks!

I've always attached it but that was with printed applications.

Good luck with the job :)

I would attach it as a separate document.

Good luck with applying for the job!

I personally put the covering letter in the body of the email as it feels silly as you have to write something in the email anyway :p

Always, ALWAYS attach the covering letter separately, unless stated otherwise. And make sure it is in a universal format like a PDF or a .doc document.

In the main body all you have to say is that your application for whatever post is attached.

Thanks Claire(s!)

Sending it attached makes sense so they can print it out i guess.
Just feel a bit blunt not putting much in the email itself!

I guess you could do both and say that you have attached it for ease of printing in the letter?

I would probably attach it, but then there is the awkward predicament of finding something to write in the email!

We’ll find a way to fight it, we always have.
It's not how tragically we suffer but how miraculously we live.
