taking citalopram

after having daily self harm urges and lots of stress I started taking citalopram (antidepressant),
and it took away lots of the stress and the self harm thoughts were almost completely gone, but now I've been taking them for a little more then 2 weeks,
and the self harm urges are getting back, is this normal and could this be a late side effect?

I do feel a lot less stressed though, really wish I started taking this earlier!

I think the urges to self harm is a difficult thing to control, not that it’s impossible, just difficult. Could you speak to your doctor about it? Maybe you need someone to talk about it.

well I do have a lot of people to talk about it, but I just really hope that the urges will get less, I mean I haven't done it in about half a year, it should be almost gone :(

A year and a half is excellent. Well done! Maybe it just takes time. Or maybe it just takes time with the medication. Two weeks isn’t long. Talk to whoever prescribed them.
