I don't necessarily agree... My work are very appreciative if I tell them about the dysphoria because it helps them to know how to deal with me. Distracting yourself is not the same as ignoring it completely. Part of being trans is feeling that dysphoria and coming to terms with it and learning to deal with it. Also, flying peanuts is genderfluid, not transsexual which means they (if that is your pronoun of choice) may not "change" ever. It's never a good idea to ignore your feelings

Just thought I'd share this trans Youtuber that I follow. He's so lovely and makes funny videos as well as videos relating to trans issues. Definitely worth checking out =)

This video is also worth a watch, especially for those who may be more genderfluid or unsure about physical transition:

Yeah, there are loads of trans* youtubers out there.

As for dealing with dysphoria, I just remind myself that soon it will be fixed. For example, I've recently started having more bottem dysphoria than ever before but I also get a date for phalloplasty next monday so keeping my mind on that helps. Before top surgery I would just focus on when that was going to be and the same before testosterone.
It's not a fail saf plan because you might have some bumps along the way (I have had a couple) but it does help. Also the fact that after it's done, the time just seems to vanish and the next minute yous like a year post or whatever.
Focusing on keeping busy by doing things you enjoy is also a good one. I used to think of myself as just a floating brain which weirdly helped in a way. Probably because I wasn't thinking about how I looked any other way...

Friends help also. Even if you just meet up with them and they treat you as you and talk about other stuff. Friends are the best thing in my opinion, mine are awesome and have helped me so much without realising it.

But yeah, feel free to PM or whatever and I shall try to reply when I can. :]

I know no one's posted here for a while, but I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to deal with family members that don't make any effort to accept or understand someone's gender?

I know no one's used this thread for months, but I'd still like some advice about how to deal with unaccepting family members.

Bumping this thread because I just remembered its existence and I think it's a good idea. So, how is everyone?

No way! There's a thread for this? I'm a teenage FtM guy, beginning official gender therapy next week!
Nice to meet everyone!

Oh yes! I remember this thread!

I'm all good. Had another surgery in January so that I hang. (I had 1st stage abdominal phallo last year and healed too well so didn't hang.) They basically just cut the scar tissue away. I'm all healed now so it's all good.

How is everyone else doing?

Hey,

I forgot about this thread too. Best thing about having a subscription to a thread and setting the email address to the one you LITERALLY never check.

I have had to have revision surgery on my chest because of dropping a lot of weight before my first surgery and more since too. Currently 11 days post op and not quite back at work yet and ever so bored.

How is everyone else?

I'm gonna have to find ways to remind myself to check this XD
