Hey guys. I went to my doctor the other day and we had a bit of an argument about therapy, he thinks I need long term psychoanalysis but I disagreed. He went on to tell me I have a very complex fragmented personality. Do you think he was hinting au bpd? I asked him straight out but he said he didn't want to put labels on things :/ feel so low right now. Just want to give up and die.

Hi Helena,

I think it would be really difficult for any of us to try and second guess what your Doctor is saying.

It's important that you listen to him. Do you know why you disagree with him about the therapy? I'm sure it's not something he thought about lightly. It might be helpful for you to get more information from your Doctor about why he thinks the therapy would be helpful and what it would entail. Then you can make a more informed decision rather than an out-right no.

I'm sorry you are feeling so low at the moment and having these suicidal thoughts. I don't know if it might be helpful for you to make a thread in Serious Discussion because sometimes in this thread things get lost because so many people are posting and I wouldn't want you to miss out on support when it's needed? gravy I agree with what Lotti said, unfortunately none of us can really guess what the doctor is thinking. Maybe like Lotti said you could ask why he thinks the therapy would be helpful. I'm sorry your feeling so low

I've been up and about since 4am so flagging a bit now! Though I have been for a long walk (not sure how my stomach and back feel about that), played with the puppy and then been to GP so yup. Got a housing worker in a bit and then a visiting officer from DWP later :/

Helena - Like others have said, it would be hard for us to know. I do understand how frustrating it can be for them to say that things are wrong, but not label it. I hope they start to make more sense soon.
