^^ I can top that. A few years ago I saw someone, and I felt like I didn't care bout much, so I didn't cover my arms in session, and she saw them and gave me that "calculating" look and asked "Do you self harm?"
I think I had a giggle fit after that.
"Alright, gang. I'll ignore that some of you are late... if you ignore that I'm the latest."
Some of these have made me chuckle... Sad, but true.
I think the most irritating thing they've ever said to me was "Well, you've got such a bright future ahead of you!"
And "Well, just look to the future!"
Really... I think if I was able to do that every day of the week 1.) I wouldn't be able to function in the present and 2.) I wouldn't be sitting in front of him. Whatta idiot.
When i was in A&E I had
' Did you want to die lauren?'
'No' It was for sh on my upper arm
'Did you avoid been found?'
'No' Once again its for a cut i arent suicidal
' So you didn't want to die then lauren?'
'No!'
I know they have to ask these questions but its gets on my nerves!
I know these things sound stupid but they are part of a risk assessment scale. Obviously they should be used in a sensible context but they probably don't sound so stupid when used appropriately.
Always seem to get things just that little bit wrong.
"don't wish, don't start, wishing only wounds the heart"
oh, another one ive been asked quite a few times by psych assesment in a&e.
'were you trying to end your life?'
you know what i did, what do you think!?
Sorry, but I actually don't think that is particularly stupid. A lot of people take overdoses/do something potentially fatal as a form of SH which isn't a suicide attempt. From an external perspective it can be hard to know the intent behind an action unless you ask directly.

Yeah, there are some things I do as harm at times and as an attempt at other times so this is actually a relevant question for me.
"Everything is possible through Christ, who gives me strength". Phillipians 4:13
and this isn't an 'obvious' thing that they say but it is definitely ****ing stupid and frustrating:
''On a scale of 1 to 10, how is your mood?''
OH MY LIFE!! :@
Again, I'm sorry to come across too serious but having seen things like this from the other side it isn't as stupid as it sounds. It primarily gives medical staff something to refer back to...if you say your mood is 1/10 then take meds for 6 weeks and then say it's 5/10 it's helpful to know how treatment is going.

Yeh i know they do have to ask the questions but its annoying when they ask them type of questions and its sh on your upper arm though.
"You're here for your appointment?"
---
"You are not alone here" - No, because there's you and me here, i'm depressed not stupid
---
"You look flat today" - Nope still just regular human shape!
I don't see a problem with any of these. The first one is a friendly rhetorical comment. The second is a supportive comment to let you know that you don't have to deal with things all by yourself, which is surely better than going it alone. The third comment is them showing you that they've noticed your mood is flat, have validated this feeling and are showing they care / instigating discussion about this. Which I think is better than completely ignoring how you seem.
Perhaps try not to be so picky.
These people are there to help and can't be expected to be perfect with everything they say. What's the use in making derogatory observations about such innocent comments..
Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?
Yeah I hear what you're saying.
I like my therapist a lot and think she's great, I think what's nice about threads like this (when they are used light heartedly) is that it reminds you that mental health professionals are human too and make mistakes or say silly things like everybody else.
Does that make sense to anyone or am I talk rubbish?
