Been told to claim ESA now but worried I'll be put in the work group and I'm not read for a job I need a sick note , supporting letter from Z which I doubt she will give me I can't afford my travel right now I'm worried Z won't help she didn't before thank **** I get my dla weekly or I would we screwed but this could take a while to sort so I'm sort of screwed and I feel like is catch 22 I have to go back to xyz to be entitled but then that would mess things up with my wee man , and what if my housing beenfit stops arghh my support worker said she will email Z and help and too meet her tommrow I gotta try get an emergency gp app tomorrow for the note and I'm afraid that me going to college will be used against me I am feeling crappier
Has your money actually been stopped or are you worried it might be? If you're being told to make a claim for ESA what are you on now? JSA?
Don't worry yet about what group you'll be put into. That's a while off and there's appeals you can go through.
Who is Z?
Education doesn't affect ESA. I am about to study part time at uni and I still get ESA and DLA.
Also I applied for ESA 7 months ago and I'm still on the assessment rate waiting for my assessment. So if that happens to you at least you'll get money coming in for a good while yet before the assessment.
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
Sorry for this mumbled mess I'm just upset that's all
Yes my money has been stopped I was on income support they tried to say cuz I don't have bailey in my care in my entitled and they tried to say I didn't inform them when I did .
Z is my mental health worker who they want a supporting wltrer from who is useless and doesn't do these things .
My course is counted as full time even though it's only mon-wed 9:30-3:00
Will this really not affect it
I'm terrified they will say if I can go to college I can work
Disabled Students Allowance helps you out with certain things if you're a disabled student. You have an assessment and your assesor works out what things you need. Some people get a computer with specialist software, you might be able to get help with travel costs, things like that.
I don't know exactly what benefits you can or can't be on when a student but I am pretty certain you can be on ESA at the same time as being a student. I don't think you can be on JSA though. It's best if you see someone at your jobcentre really.

I was on JSA last year while at college, as long as it's under 15 hours a week it's ok. My course was classed as full time by the college to, but it only added up to 12 hours contact a week so it was ok.
Also any functional skills hours don't count towards the number of contact hours - just in case thats relivent
You ok? Your not on ur own. Have u spoken to anyone about this? You said it support worker but I don't know if she can help u with this as isn't she there to help u with a different thing
I don't know what's happening but u said about ESA and that u have to go on the work programme or something with work but maybe it's part of u looking for work. They have to see there's other options. If u don't wanna go on it u need to speak to the Job Centre. I was suppose to go on that but it never happened so it maybe for u.
You getting help with anything else? You know u got ur family and friends to help. There anyway u can get help with ur money. Could be entilled to something instead. The ESA any good

Hmm. By my reckoning that comes out to be 16.5 hours per week, which does come under full-time.
The only way you can still claim ESA as a full-time student (which you are, in this case) is to receive a disability premium or be on DLA/PIP. I also don't think you'd be eligible to still get Housing Benefit.
Are you going to be getting loans/grants from the college?
Eventually we got hold of Z who says she will do the supporting letter for ESA and send it over to R so we can forward it to the job centre . I'm on dla so least
I has a small amount of money but it's so stressful I am got a headache form it .
I had to look for a letter to say how much I was getting rom when and get bank statements as they are trying to say I am gonna be liable for an over payments which means they would take all of my money's and yet I hav had no letters yet
Sorry, missed that you were getting DLA. In that case you should still qualify for ESA and Housing Benefit.
If you aren't getting any funds from the college, how are you paying the fees? I'm not 100% on systems outside of Scotland, and I'm assuming you're in England.
Overpayments of what? Income Support? They do not take all of your money. If it is found that you have had an overpayment they will deduct a certain percentage from your current benefits, or you can come to an agreement direct with DWP.
It's my first full level 2 course so I get it free all
I have to pay is my travel to and from college and for note book etc.
They said they shouldn't of paid me income support
From march till august cuz I don't have my lo but I informed them in march I'm
Just stressed cuz they want to make a claim .

might not as it's "contact hours" that they count. My course was 9.30 - 4 three days a week but that included a lot of "free periods" (in fact I used to go to sign on during a free period) and things, they only added up the actual class times, so it all depends.
Best idea would be to speak to both the place runnign the course and the job centre to be honest.
Maybe it is best to go on thé work programme. You got nothing to lose. You should speak to ur job center advicer again and discussur benefits wether it will effect it or not. It shouldnt but dépends.
Im sure ur be ok. There are always someone to talk to. Your not on ur own. You could ask if ur entilled to another form of benefit. Arnt u on JSA? i thought that would of been easier on u. This is from collège though. I can see. Could claim JSA when ur 18. You should speak to Job Centre about this.
You do already see thé Job Centre
I dont know what this work programe is about but be good if u found out more about it. I was supposé to go on it but never got round to it with me. I went on other back to work courses so thats why.
