I am christian. how can one handle life without knowing there is GOds hand in things we can't control?
I would like to know how others handle life when they have no control?
I handle my life because I feel that I have control over it, not a 'God'. Some of the struggles I've been through were my own makings, other struggles was the work of inexplicably cruel people. I've coped by myself, not a 'God'. And I will continue to cope with life without the need to have faith or belief in a being.
So yeah, I can handle life because I believe that I do have control and simply don't need faith in a high power or whatever you want to call it.
(Also, if Mikey is God - WE'RE DOOMED!)

I'm a Christian too but wasn't until I was 14. I think that we all have a certain amount of control on our life. After all we have free will... otherwise Adam and Eve wouldn't have sinned and we wouldn't sin. How can God have 100% control over our lives when we have free will? Yes he has a plan for our life but he can't make us follow that plan. He has desires for us but it is up to us whether we choose to follow him or not... so how do others handle life, well the same way we all do... because we all have control in the form of free will.

Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.
Just speaking personally, quoting from Richard Dawkins and his Spectrum of Theistic Probability, I live like this; "I don't know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there." So I am in control of my life, which I find more empowering than assuming someone else is in control.
I am of Jewish descent and we observe Jewish Holy Days, but they are paralleled with Christianity. Such as Rosh Hashana we call 'The Feast of Trumpets', Yom Kippor 'Atonement', Sukkot, 'The Feast of Tabernacles'.

Another one is:
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved " - Marcus Aurelius
The latest census thinks I'm a jedi but I have since converted to sith lord.
Then I am sorry, but it is my duty to destroy you.

I really like that quote. Much better than Pascal's argument, which is really kooky anyway...

Not worshipping a god does not mean that a person has no control. Assuming for now that there is a god, and that we are under his care and control, then how did man ever develop contraception, or start research on stem cells, or do anything which (according to what I remember of my Catholic upbringing and its many opinions on morality) goes against God's plan? Surely the only explanation is that man does indeed have control over his life and his environment, whether there is a god or not.
Personally, I don't know how anyone could possibly live knowing that they're just another part of God's great, unknowable plan. I find the idea of a godless universe incredibly liberating.
To me (again, as a former Catholic - or "fallen Catholic," if you want to use their terminology), a world ruled by God is like a narrow, windowless corridor (with white-collar-wearing guards who shove you along every time you slow down or stop moving or try to turn back). A godless universe, on the other hand, is like an open field.
