The Forum Moderators.

The forum moderators are a team of members who work to keep the website running smoothly and maintain a supportive atmosphere. This means making sure that content posted is within the rules of posting and in the appropriate areas. Anything that can affect the running of ryl and the forums is discussed by the moderators, including rules changes, journals, and rule breaking behaviour, just to name a few.

The main method of contact is by using the post report function. You can report posts or signatures/avatars that are breaking the rules, even if you are not entirely sure. To report a post, please click the "report" button underneath the members user info to the right of the post, and write a short message regarding why you are reporting the post. This will be sent to the moderators. For more information please see Guide to Post Reporting - FAQ.

You can also e-mail the moderators at moderators@recoveryourlife.com, or contact them directly via PM from the list of forum moderators in the staff listings. You will see the forum moderators have a red username to help you find them easier.

The head of the forum moderating team is Shambles.

The Chat Moderators.

The chat moderators are a team of members who work to keep RYL's chatrooms safe and supportive. This means real-time moderating in chat to ensure that the rules are maintained, dealing with rule-breaking behaviour in the form of infractions from saved chat logs and responding to members queries or complaints about the chat rooms.

Because the chat team cannot be present in all rooms and at all times, we rely on members informing us when there is a problem and no one is around. The single most important thing when reporting an issue is to save the chat logs of any incident. This can be done by clicking the "Save conversation" button which is located on the left hand side of the toolbar.

You can also e-mail the chat moderators at chatmods@recoveryourlife.com,speak to us in chat via whispers or contact us directly via PM from the list of chat moderators in the staff listings. You will see the chat moderators have a Purple username to help you find them easier.[/color]

The head of the chat moderating team is:griddlebone

The Supporters

Who are the supporters?
The supporters are a team of volunteers, who give time to offer emotional support and advice for people who need it via Forums, Chat, Live Help [link], or email at support@recoveryourlife.com.

So that we can reply to you as quickly as possible the Supporters work as a team. What this means is that you won't just have 1 person reply to your email, or talk to the same person on Live Help all the time. This means support can be provided as and when needed and you get a good range of opinions.

It is also worth remembering Supporters are members of RYL just like you and it may be that their own well-being needs to be taken into account as well as the people being supported - This is a balance best levied by a team than a group of individuals.

The Head Supporter is klo_flo (Chloe) and the Deputy Head is one_step_closer. (Lindsay). The rest of the team are just like anyone else and will be replying to your threads, whilst also receiving support - something we can all do.

Are you confidential?
Yes. We will never tell anyone outside of the support team what you've said or even that you've been in contact with us, unles we've agreed otherwise. Everything is kept confidential and private to RYL.

What is Live Help
Live help is where you speak to a Supporter 1-to-1... a bit like msn! We do sometimes have technical problems when it disconnects and says the Supporter has left. This will never be the case... it's just technical issues. If you can give us an email address when you connect to Live Help, we can then contact you *if* this happens.

But if the supporters are not online there is always the email system and and forums.

Why does Live Help seem to be offline a lot?
As the Supporters are entirely composed of members of RYL the amount of time Live Help is online for, is dependent on a number of reasons... including how many Supporters are available to be on Live Help due to personal and training issues. As the majority of Supporters are from the UK this also affects the times when Live Help is online due to time differences in different countries.

Should you need to speak to someone at a time when Live Help is offline please find a list of advice agencies here

Using email
The Supporters can be contacted on support@recoveryourlife.com. A member of the team will answer your email and it is important to remember that it might not be the same person each time. However, the content will be kept within the Supporters and senior staff at RYL (although it rarely happens), which we would *always* try and do with your consent first.

Replies aim to be within 24 hours, though it can be later than this if it is especially busy or there are limited number of the team around. If Live Help is offline then The Supporters would always urge you to get in touch via the email system.

Becoming a Supporter
To become a supporter you need to be active around the forums or on chat... and be on RYL long enough to have a little bit of knowledge about how things work. You don't have to be recovered to be a Supporter, but it's important that you put *yourself* first and spend some time wondering if it's the right thing for you.

If you think that's you, please feel free to put your name forward by sending a PM to Chloe (klo_flo) or Lindsay (one_step_closer). If you think that someone else has the qualities required you can also get in touch with us. Often we notice people who are supporting regularly and with good quality around the forums or in chat and we would ask if they would like to join the support team.

Once you have put your name forward it will be discussed within the team and you will hear back from us the next time we are recruiting new supporters.... whether successful or not.

Take care and be safe,
The Supporters

The First Aid Team

The First Aid Team are a small group of members who have experience and knowledge in the medical field. They have written a series of articles that cover the the majority of the First Aid questions found on RYL and these are located on the main site (here.) There is also a dedicated forum where users can post their questions and receive replies from other members as well as the First Aid Team, but please remember that threads posted here must still abide by the same forum rules as the rest of the forum.

First Aid advisors, can also be reached via Private Message, were advice can be more openly discussed than on the forums.

There are two different types of First Aid Advisor currently on RYL, these are First Aid advisors (FAA) and Wound Care Advisors (WCA.)

First Aid Advisors

The First Aid advisors are able to offer advice on pretty much any problem faced by the members of the forum, ranging from Over Doses, Self Harm Issues and Eating Disorder problems. Currently thier are two First Aid Advisors, they are:
Animad (KimA)
Bitter_Angel (KimB)

Wound Care Advisors

The Wound Care Advisors are able to offer advice on all aspects of wound care and general first aid. However, they are not able to answer questions on subjects such as overdoses. They are also familiar with a lot of different resources that might be able to help you, should a FAA not be online to answer your question. Their are currently no active Wound Care Advisors.

The Community Team

Introduction
Being founded on the hard work of a few key individuals, RYL is also largely possible due to the huge contribution of its ordinary members – no matter how small the contribution may be. The first such team on V3 was The Main Site Reorganization team (MSRO) which was responsible for much of the early information published onto the site. Unfortunately this consisted of a few members donating a lot of their time. In order to allow members to have a greater hand in developing this site further, the old team was scrapped and a new, much larger team (The Community Team) was developed from new.

What is the CT?
The community team is an opportunity to get involved on a level previously unavailable for most members. No specific skill is required, no form of technical know-how. If you've managed to register for an account and stay reasonably within the rules, then you'll be able to find something to do. We’re always looking for new ways to improve the site, and new ideas to improve upon, too.

Responsibilities.
It's fair to say we're relatively large: in a good way! Amongst us is the freedom to leave whenever you wish without the ties of being overly responsible. Furthermore, we also share the workload to spread tasks out as fairly and evenly as possible. If there's a task to be done, then feel free to dive in. It's fair to say, with such a mutual relationship between the team and the individual member, things work pretty well. For us, each contribution - no matter how small - is significant. There's no such thing as a bad idea, there is no such thing as 'wrong' on our team; merely an idea ready for improvement or a new direction for us to take.

What do we do?
We listen to and implement ideas; that's our main function. Whether something within the forum inspires us, or if there is something we perceive to be lacking, then we discuss the subject as a team to reach the most sensible and logical conclusion. Often, the ideas with many small suggestions from others then become 'tasks' for us to work at.

How do we work?
The Community Team consists of our own working boards, since we're a working team who take up a large space with all the ideas, discussions, and plans. We work on a basis of no idea is wrong and each idea is followed through to the highest possible level. The organisational structure of the team is CT Members at the base, with a small selection of CTLeaders and two CTHeads above them. All ideas created by CT Members, and those proposed from outside of the CT, are more than welcome, though specific tasks originating from these ideas are designated by the Team Leaders, simply so we can work as a team and remain focused on specific areas where time may be in short supply. Though don’t worry: we always aim to follow through on all good ideas.

How you can help
Simply keep an open mind and open eyes whilst around the site. Look at what you feel works yet could be improved, or make suggestions to what you feel needs to be added to the site. To suggest an idea directly to the team, feel free to PM any of the Community Team Leaders outlined below. Due to the nature of the CT, we’re unable to tell you exactly what’s going on privately – though you may see something happen sometime in the future. Alternatively, if you would like to join the team, message a Head of the Community Team with your reasons for why you would like to join. A speedy response isn’t always possible – but we’ll try our best!

Community Team Staff

Heads of the Community Team

random.swirls

Explanation of their role: The Heads of the Community Team deal with everything: particularly the admin-side of the team. They’re responsible for deciding on who to add to the team, as well as any general concerns members may have. Furthermore, any complaints about CT members acting on behalf of the CT should be taken to them.

Community Team Leaders

The Community Team has a number of team leaders who are there to direct ideas and ensure completion within a timely manner. With a good knowledge of what’s going on, they’re the consistency within the team whilst also being the bridge between Heads of Department and general CT members for general tasks.
