Sorry for the long story in advance :-P
I have been working in the public sector for nearly a decade, and I have witnessed my service go from "borderline acceptable" to "totally unfit for purpose". My "team" ... is full of backbiters and gossipers. The service has deteriorated because of a lack of funding, and my job is very pressurised - I am supposed to be helping people in distress, but there are NO services available to them! The "National HQ" is fully aware of the situation, as are "management" at all levels. Nothing ever changes .... we have raised our concerns DOZENS of times.
Our team - 25 people - has become so demoralised we now have external "counseling". Every three months, we gather in small groups, to discuss our concerns, and the meetings are
supposed to be confidential. However ... the group members LEAK information to their co-workers and managers!
My finances are in good order, I have no debts, so I am going to QUIT my crappy job, take some "time out" to rebuild myself, and find a new job!
