Let’s have a rant about day time

For a laugh let’s have a rant about daytime tv?
This isn’t serious so we keep it light hearted.

Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.

I seriously wish I could be watching day time tv right now instead of being at work. End rant.

I can't speak for itv since the only time I watch itv is when I am IP so am basing my opinion on mostly the BBC. But I don't think it's that bad. I am generally asleep/out before 12 pm so can't comment on programmes before then unless I make an effort to record it. Animal Park is good because who doesn't love animals? Island medics is another good one because it shows the work of the nhs in a different light. Heir Hunters is good because it shows an interesting work. As for the dramas on in the afternoon they seem good though I only watch A Place to call home. My mum watches/watched 800 words and the Doctor Blake Mysteries and said that they are good. It is certainly a lot better than the early to mid 2000s where every other programme was a sell your junk programme or a property programme. Plus in the afternoon all you got was a repeat of Diagnosis Murder/Murder She Wrote.

My only criticism is that they don't have any decent quiz shows apart from Pointless which is a ratings winner. Impossible had a wooden presenter of which I kept on falling asleep. As a side note I have a coveted Pointless trophy. They also rely too much on the favourites because Escape to the country, Bargain Hunt and Homes Under the hammer are always in the same spot and more often than not are repeats. They could liven it up by showing something different in the slots. As for The Sheriffs are coming well it's almost as bad as Channel 5 with their poverty porn but it makes good viewing.

On the other hand I do enjoy Classic Coronation Street because I wasn't watching Corrie until 2001 so it is brand new to me. Plus there's the legendary characters such as Betty, The Duckworths, Curly, Mavis and Derek, Bet Gilroy and Alec etc so worth watching. I have yet to watch Classic Emmerdale though.

How did you get a Pointless trophy!? That's not a side note, that's a huge important piece of information! =P

It was auctioned off by the BBC in 2013 for children in need. I won. I got a Pointless trophy, signed board game, signed book, signed Blush and a signed t shirt. The t shirt and bear was signed by everyone who was in the children in need pointless special but everything else was signed by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman. So rather than appear on the telly I have a less interesting tale to tell. I have been on Newsround when John Craven was the presenter though.

I think that's a pretty interesting story! And for a good cause too :)

On the daytime TV theme, I love Doctors (BBC). I watch it on iplayer when I come home from work and have a nice glass of fruit juice and a snack, because I like to party hard. I love it because practically nothing happens, although too much happened before Christmas and so I rage quit and I'm only just getting back into it. (TV shows with a continuous plot make me rather anxious and I've had to stop watching Casualty and Holby City because of it )

No other sadness in the world would do

The last Doctors episode I saw was in 2013 and that only because Judy Cornwell was in it. I also saw the Sylvester McCoy one which I thought was excellent. I used to watch it when Neighbours was on the BBC but since then I have only seen the occasional episode.

Island Medics is great, although I watched it on catch up rather than during the day. Could you understand what people were saying Dawn?

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

i like the occasional morning tv like this morning and debating stuff in and light hearted discussions on topics but i generally do not watch day time tv, if i can help it. but if I am having a day when i am physically and mentally not in a good place then occasionally its great but not all the time.

Perhaps they need to think about offering things to beside watching tv that aren’t triggering but at the same take into consideration of symptoms concentration level but aren’t going to turn their brains into mush.
