so, we've been here a year now, but we can't seem to stop our neighbours cats from pooping in our garden, it stinks out there and she said she would clean up after her cats but hasn't done so even after countless numbers of times of asking.
i didn't want to do it, but i've bought sonic cat scarer thing, only thing i'm worried about is she lives next door and will that stop the cats from going back into her house completely?
we've tried everything else, lemon juice, orange peel, shop bought gels and sprays, but the little buggers still come and poop.
does anyone know of any other way of deterring a cat out of your garden, as it's really wearing on me now, and i seem to be constantly ill from picking up their poop.
There are some plants you can buy that are cat deterrents.x
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
I have no idea if this works, or if my grandad was just crazy lol, but he hated cats and used to leave two litre pop bottles filled with water around his garden, and he bought these 'cats faces', made from metal with marbles for eyes. I have no idea if they worked or not though.
Dogs are good.not always practical.
They apparently don't like the smell of fox poop but again not that practical.
I've heard the bamboo think works too!
thankyou for the suggestions, i'll try those and report back and tell you if they have helped.. it wouldn't be a problem but she's got either 7 or 8 cats in there and that's a lot of poop lol
If you have access to egg shell, put them in the areas of the garden that they squat in most. They work super well cause no-one likes walking on egg shells. =)
From Nymph to Dragonfly, I know my place.
Call me Bee. =) Like it or Lump it.
‘Cause the passion and pain are gonna keep you alive someday
most cats burry their poop, if they burry it no problem. Their poop does well for the soil. But from reading your post, I'm thinking they are not burrying?
You could always spray them with the garden hose each tme you catch them, they should learn.
We used to have a small spray bottle with (I think) eucalyptus oil and water, and we'd always spray our cat when he was doing wrong... it worked, but I'm not sure whether it was eucalyptus oil or not... If you do a google search it should come up with ideas, and say what they don't like
But just because it burns Doesn't mean you're gonna die
No, they aren't burying it, they just leave it there and it stinks, i'd have no problem with them doing it if they would bury it. i'm adding eggshells to the list... omelettes all round then.. lol
Have you called and made a complaint to a ranger? Take photographs/diary entries of times etc it's done with a full description of the cat and they should talk to the owner. Then they will give guidelines to the owner which may include keeping the cat strictly indoors and if she doesn't follow she can get fined. It might rile your neighbor up but if it is affecting you that much it may be the only option that works.
Have you tried putting a small litter tray in your garden somewhere and seeing if the cat uses that? If it does when its full place it on the neighbours door step, she should soon get the message.
Sorry I don't have any help but I kind of have the same problem but it's dogs that have been pooping in my yard. :( we don't even know whose dogs they are but we just keep finding dog poop in our yard. It smells horrid when we walk outside, and it's disgusting to pick up, so I feel your pain.
Whatever it is, you can get through it. I promise.
i'm going to ring the housing association and see if they'll do anything about it, have put out a lot of the suggestions that everyone has made today, now i'll see in the morning if we have any new poop :/
we've put out the sonic cat scarer and it seems to be working so for (fingers crossed) so hopefully i won't have to stress myself out ringing/emailing housing association :) early days yet though. x
so the cat scarer didn't work, so in desperation i have contacted our housing assoc, they want to have a meeting with us because apparently they've had 6 or more other complaints from other people and because we keep ourselves to ourselves they want to hear our side of the story. i really don't want to get my neighbour in trouble but it really is wearing on me :/
