I've been under adult services for 9 years.
As Cam said you may be allocated a care co-ordinator and maybe a CPN or key worker and they will oversee your treatment and be your first point of contact if you're feeling wobbly or like you need to talk.
I see my CPN about twice a month (if they feel you need to see them more often then they will suggest it) and we go out for coffee, drive to different places, she's been helping me get the train, or we can just meet at the CMHT if I feel unwell and need to talk in private. She also sometimes comes with me to my psychiatrist appointments.
There's also usually something called resource therapy which is basically occupational therapy that you might be referred to. So there might be leisure groups, art groups, walking groups, pottery, things like coping skills and relaxation groups and so on.
Another aspect is therapy which they might offer you (though if you're having private therapy they won't be keen on you having two different therapies as they will contradict each other and be too confusing for you).
And usually you see the psychiatrist who manages medication and diagnosis mainly and outlines what kind of treatment you need.
I don't know where I'd be now without the support of my CMHT. They have (most of the time) been fantastic.
You'll likely have an initial assessment for your first appointment to see where you're at, what's going on and so on so they can decide what they can offer you.
As Cam said they might offer you everything I've mentioned or they might decide you only need to see the psychiatrist and continue with your private therapy.
