Welcome the Male Support Thread. This thread aims to provide the males of RYL a safe place to ask for and give support to their fellow male members. We hope this will help to break down the stereotype that surrounds how males 'should' act and feel.
This thread shouldn't replace your own threads for help and support on the site, but may help you to feel more comfortable talking to other males without fear of being judged until you feel you can post on the other boards.
We hope this thread will show you that “you are not alone” as a male member. It's a chance to share your experiences and difficulties that you might not have shared before, especially on subjects that are more male-orientated, to really show that there are others out there.
We can appreciate that it is hard to speak up about our problems and talk openly about them, especially with all the social pressures surrounding males, but do be reassured that no one here will judge you because of your gender. Hopefully, by providing this thread, you can learn to break down these walls amongst those who understand what it's like.
Please feel free to post and ask for support or give advice, and over time you may find it easier to ask for help and realise that it doesn't make you less of a male by asking for help or showing your emotions.
This, like all threads on RYL, is by no means private, and we will not discriminate against anyone who wants to read or even post on here. We understand it can be hard for our male members to feel safe enough to talk about their difficult experiences and emotions, and we hope that you will respect this space for them in which to do that.
Also, as this is a thread where males can open up about many different topics, this may mean that there are triggers for a number of different things. Please be aware and considerate of this while you post and whilst you read the thread. A good way of keeping people safe is to use 'hide' boxes to warn people of triggering content and to make it clear what it may be triggering for! This will mean that more male members can ask for support without the worry of being triggered.

Welcome lets hope this thread can help you all and others that come to use it in time. This thread has been a long time in the making so that it may stand a chance of working, and i hope that it does work to help you guys and the others who may use it. If any of you need any support don't be shy in asking as this is what this thread is here for.
Lets make sure we welcome everyone who comes to use this thread as this is a thread for all the males that will come to use RYL and not for a select few (which goes without saying but i thought i would :p)

That's no problem at all. This thread isn't about discriminating, it's about the accepting others as well putting back the "you are not alone" feel back for male members on RYL. So you're more than welcome! :)
Andy if the thread is used to stay all manly it defeats the purpose of the thread. It is meant to stop that stereotype of men being tough and allow us to let are emotions out without feeling it's wrong. It's not going to be easy for a lot to let down defenses they have built up over the years but hopefully the men will learn how to cope with their problems.

i am not a boy but i am an.. alter? i hope i got that right. my name is jude and we have DID but the main-girl is scared of me coz i am a boy.
i dont drink though, and i dont have a willy if i actually look for it
i am scared and upset coz nobody will listen to me coz the ones who understand all hate me on acounnt of being a boy. i think im aloud to be scared at the moment but its not long before i have to start being a MAN and then i will have to gnow what is going on and do stuff and stuff
Jude, hey we're DID too, we're often over on the dissociative distress thread. I think there is probably a better place for you, i think more people will understand where you are coming from and be able to support you.
