Self-Made Tattoos

I'm not sure if this goes here, but I couldn't think where else it would go because it's not exactly SH, it's just tattooing! Am I right?

I just watched The Fountain, and decided to do what he did in the film; give myself a tattoo around my ring finger (like a wedding ring). Obviously it represents my eternal love for Corey, my fiance... I wasn't sure it would work too well, it's not as good as it could be, I guess I'll have to go back and fix it up in a few days... I wasn't sure how to do it! I dipped a sewing needle in ink, that should be fairly perminant, right? Has anyone else done this, or something like it??

I hope some one can give me a tip or two, I'd love to be able to do tattoos and not have to pay a ton!!

xxx Thanks!

wow what a smart idea :|

what about infections?

paying for a tattoo is worth it.poking yourself with a needle to make a *tattoo* is stupid when you dont know anything about it apart from seeing it in a film.what if the ink causes a reaction ?

if you want to learn how to tattoo do it the proper way and get an appenticeship with a tattooist.

You are never going to be able to do good tattoo's with a sewing needle and ink.

Depending on what ink you used, yu could end up with blood poisoning or similar.

a girl i know did that, it looked TERRIBLE.
now she's stuck with it for a very long time LOL.
I wouldn't advise it, just pay the money and get it done properly instead of looking like a knob with a terrible excuse for a tattoo on your finger.

I'm with everyone else, go to a professional! A tattoo on your finger will cost hardly anything anyway.

I did one myself in a moment of madness and it's still there about 7 months(?) on but it's alot fainter than normal tattoos. I would reccomend going and getting it done because then your lot less likely to get infections and you're guarenteed it'll stay. Also a lot less work!

Yeah I agree with you guys, but I did it last night, it doesn't look bad because it's just a tiny little band around my finger.. I'm not going to do it again because it's all irritated and hurts! *duh* lol.

Poking is a form of tattooing and can look really good but it has to be done by someone who is experienced in it. You have to get the depth exactly right, and the type of ink. The tools have to be very clean as well, just as with any tattoos, and you really can't do that at home. Even professional hand-poked tattoos often have to be redone due to the depth being off in places.

Please be careful.

It's a terrible idea. I have some myself, done with indian ink, I have had one covered up since they have been done. Don't ruin your body by taking tattoos into your own hands.

I think it depends on how lucky you are when doing it yourself with no experience(in pro.tattooing I mean) I did a tiny lizard on my ankle myself and it's been there for a while. I've done others in different places, but not very deep because I didn't want them too be permanent.

I will go to college, my family be damned.
