Any experiences of PIP Mandatory Re-consideration or attending an Appeal?

Hi

As some of you might know Iím registered severely visually impaired and also struggle with my mental health.

Iíve recently had to have an assessment to be transferred from DLA to PIP. I was previously receiving high rate for both Care and Mobility DLA.

Theyíve decided to award me the Enhanced Mobility rate for PIP but not to award me anything for the Daily Living Component. I needed 8 points to get standard rate but they scored me at 6.

Iím going to take them to Mandatory Re-consideration and if that is unsuccessful then to a tribunal to appeal. I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this?

i do not always manage to be around but i wish you all the very best - love and luck to you all!

Okay so I went for mandatory reconsideration and lost. And then I I did the tribunal for with someone with CAB and then I was rewarded both mobility and care when I was only asking for care. I said I would attend the tribunal but in the end the tribunal did not take place and they rewarded it anyway.

The statistics show that you will most likely lose your reconsideration but win tribunal hopefully.

I took my PIP claim to mandatory reconsideration and won. I requested the report from the face-to-face assessment, then wrote a letter explaining how the report didn't accurately represent my disability (and in some places was just straight-up lies, but hey ho!).

I used to be on both low care and low mobility DLA, and I got standard rate care PIP after the reconsideration.

Don't ever let anyone tell you you deserve that.

I was refused both parts of PIP but when I got help to fill in the form by someone who specialises in that (Money Matters here but might be CAB with you) I was then awarded both parts of PIP and didn't have to attend a tribunal. I think getting the right people to help you with the forms is the best idea. Good luck.

Thank you for the replies.

The CAB filled in my PIP form for me. I have contacted the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) and they are going to write my Mandatory Re-consideration for me. Iím grateful and glad they are going to try and help but still feeling very anxious and worried.

I'm glad they are helping, I'm sure they should know the right details to include. It's understandable that you're anxious and worried, it's a horrible process applying for and fighting for benefits. Do you have some emotional support at the moment?
