What's your best RYL memories? (Sorry that this may not include the more recent members). I miss when RYL was really active and wanted to have a bit of a nostalgic thread.
My favourite times were being on the Supporters team but I probably shouldn't mention the things staff got up to!
Remember warp Harley's picture?
eZine.
RYL families.
Tony's jokes.
The shop - I still have my bracelets I think.
Damn cat products.
I'm sure I remembered more last night! Anyway, add your good memories. As I said if this turns out to be a bad idea please forgive me.
Damn cat stuff was funny - and Harley Bear the other RYL animal. Of course that reminds of the "Damn Cow" thread - that was a best (couldn't do it now).
My most fun memory was going to a Placebo gig in New York and seeing an UK RYLer I knew well in the video playing behind the band. She was picked to be in a Placebo video (Because I want You) and they ran it on the background during the song. That was a very definite "welcome to the cyber age" moment. I wouldn't have even been at the gig if not for RYL. I would see Morrissey not long after and he was an RYL "acquired taste" as well.
I miss MSN as well. Nothing like having a a dozen MSN convos going at the same time. The phones and social media cant reproduce that.
Learning a lot about UK and other places was also fun. I know UK places better than many states lol. Oh the slang I picked-up lol. I can call someone here a mardy bint or a minger and tell them its a compliment.
I always recall AndiH's hair coloring thread as pretty funny. There were the constant fads like Olsens, Dr Who, Evanescence, Salad Fingers, Depp, Emo, Goth stuff etc. The Photoshop threads were unforgettable of course.
The documentary era was quite a kicker. So many people came on and one and on - and so many from "Vampire Freaks" (there's a flashback). The MySpace thing kicked-up around the same time as doc.
Unfortunately Web 2.0 and the social media sites killed the forums. Web 1.0 made for the best days I think. Hah, I still remember when Twitter and YouTube were new.
