Hey guys, I was just wondering if your parents know about RYL, or if they know you have an account, etc. Mine dont, so I was just wondering about everyone else

Hi there :)
I go to lots of ryl meets and my main friendship group is people on here and my parents are incredibly nosy, so it was easier for me to tell them that I frequent a site for crazy people, but I have never told them the name of the site, and have expressly forbade them from trying to find it.
Nope. No one IRL knows I'm on here.
Whenever someone enters my room when I'm on RYL, I always quickly close it down and look suspicious. They must think I look at porn all day.
Hi there :)

This kinda.
My parents know I've found a support website, not told them the name and I'd like to think that they wouldn't try and find me on here. Maybe 4 years when my SH first started they might have, but now I'm getting proper support, I don't think they're as worried.
When we had the first Uni Student thread meet, I just vaguely mentioned I was going to Birmingham for the day so I couldn't babysit (didn't realise how odd visiting a city by myself would seem to them) and when they asked just said meeting uni students from the support website.
I'm fine with them knowing that I have a support network as I hope it makes them less worried, but as soon as they try to talk about how I am, I shut off.
My mum found my old RYL account a few years ago. And stalked my R/V thread somehow. So I had to leave the site for a long time.
She never said I wasn't "allowed" to be on here, in fact, she never actually approached me directly about it. She did tell the hospital doctor though, who asked me about RYL. Ugh.
I don't know if she knows I came back. However, when I went to the London meet in July, she did ask me a lot about where I knew these people from :P I just said "the internet" and agreed when she asked if they were "friends-of-friends" on Facebook...
I don't want my parents to know. Because I get uncomfortable when my mum starts reading what I write here.

Only one person I know is aware that I'm on this site, but I know she has never looked on here. I told her after a few too many drinks!
I'd never tell my parents. There are some things I talk about on here that they don't know about and I don't ever want them to know, so I like that this place is a little secret
My parents don't know.... but then I am 24 and live on my own!! But no-one in real life knows I'm here, although everyone knows about the SH etc.

no one knows im on it, a few years ago i was on a site similar and when my parents found out they thought it was pro suicide and stuff and didnt really understand that it was helpful. i got my own laptop now so it kinda helps, except when my brother hacks into it, so not sure if he knows i visit hes not said anything about it though
My parents know about my SI and about RYL.
I don't tend to keep much, if anything, from them
I think when I told them about RYL they were happy I'd found something else to help me
My Mom knows I talk to people online (RYL) but the only reason she uses her computer is to check her email and her bank online, she doesn't do much else, so I doubt she knows this place exists. But I've not lived at home for a while so she's not as close as she was when I used to live there and use her PC.
I'm in my 20s now and 2+ years in recovery. BUT when i was a teen, still living @ home, and still "active" . . . NO they did not know. The family computer [the only one in the house] was a desktop in the living room, so i had to be careful about when i was on, but i don't believe they ever really noticed.
