Wound Care Question - Matress sutures

Hi

I have a strange concern

I have matress sutures in my leg, quite a lot of them.

However I jsut took the dressing off and my skin has grown/ is growing over the stitces.

So Im worried they wont be able to get taken out.

Will they be able to remove them? What will happen if they cant?

They will be able to get them out don't worry, they won't leave them in there. Phone your doctor in the morning and discuss it with them, they may take them out now as sounds like it is healing well.

It's daunting standing at the edge of the world, ready to take it on.

If you've not already then it sounds like these need to be removed and with the timing it should be fine. It doesn't matter what sort they are as with any sutures there are problems if they become embedded under the skin. As it's the weekend now then going to a walk-in centre or even a minor injuries unit is your best bet and they can assess it fully and see if anything else needs to be done as well as removing them if they feel this is the best course of action

I had stitches maybe a year and a half ago, had the same problem and I still have part of the stitch in my skin that wont come out, its about half an inch long... doesnt cause any problems they just have to work harder to get them out, its a bit uncomfortable but mostly your body will try to push them out.
