Depot injections
I'm currently on Clopixol depot every 2 weeks (0.8ml) & it's not been that effective so as a short term measure I've had risperidone Tablets 3mg/daily added which does seem to be helping a bit.
I'm on this combo til I see my psychiatrist on 14th September when I guess we'll discuss what to do.
My preference is to try a different depot injection as I can struggle with compliance at times.
Just wondered if anyone was on a depot other than Clopixol & would you recommend & side effects etc.
Thanks

I haven't been on any other depots other than clopixol but I did have depixol as tablets whilst I was ip. It's available as a depot and so is risperidone.
My first thought was to try an higher dose of clopixol. I am on 500mg every 3 weeks and I am mostly stable. I have tried lower doses before. Can I ask why that's not a option?

Thanks for responding
I don't really want to increase the Clopixol because of risk of side effects and already on procycladine twice a day because of s/effects
I've looked into which meds come as depots I guess I was just hoping for some personal insights.
Thanks though

Fair enough. I am sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

If you're finding risperidone helpful, what about paliperidone? I've heard really positive things about it although it's an expensive drug.

Thanks Pomegranate
Just been doing some reading around Paliperidone. Seems good but worrying amount of people reporting weight gain
(I'm already morbidly obese)
Dawn, I don't know. Maybe I would be better increasing the Clopixol.
It's all so confusing
I guess I really need to speak with my psych

I'm on monthly Paliperidone depot and it works better for me than Aripiprazole. I was on the highest dose of depot Aripiprazole (400mg) but I'm on the lowest of Paliperidone (50mg) and have remained stable for a year the longest I've been stable. I also haven't put on any weight.
