I know of hospitals that use this technique. But only specialist self harm units where patients really want to stop and only use self harm if they have exhausted all the other coping strategies. And then they can ask for a sterile tool and will be supervised to ensure the patient stays safe, and then hand the tool over for disposal.

I think it could be helpful, but I don't think i agree with it happening in a school.

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Wow. I'm shocked. And appalled they allowed this to happen in a school, anything could have happened.

I personally don't agree with it at all.

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

It mentions the school is run by The Priory Group, so I'm assuming that the school is part of an adolescent unit. Still seems wrong to do it in the school though.

It says the school teaches pupils with Aspergers and High Functioning Autism. Sometimes people on the spectrum self harm, and will do more harm to themselves if you try to stop them than if you allow them to continue. Perhaps that was the logic in this case?

As it is a specialist school for kids with autistic spectrum disorders, I think I actually agree with it. Only because preventing it and them doing it outside of school, might actually have way worse consequences as they would be unsupervised whilst it was happening.
