He's only little! Don't panic. Doing stuff like the hand over mouth thing (which, by the way, I still do with a two year old and he loves it) is perfect. Maybe try getting him some 3D type puzzle things like those beads on wire that he can push around. Or musical toys like a tambourine or little drum, most kids love those.

yeah i was thinking about the bead/wire things, problem is right now he can't sit up so it has to be stuff he can either do lying down, or sitting on my knee (which he's not keen on) or sitting in his high chair or something.

He's not so fussed by things that make a noise or light up, much rather feel different textures, he does like to listen to music though so i have the CD player on for most of the day with either baby classicals or nursery rhymes!

He's quite fussy with his toy choices!

Sam if he is very into textures you could make him a treasure basket. We had them in the baby room at nursery and the kids loved them :)

Kids love treasure baskets...Faith's nursery has them upstairs for the 0-18 months, in the Annex room for the 18-24 months, and downstairs for the 2 year olds and all the nursery nurses have said that it is a huge hit with the kids.

I'm trying to think of other toys that he might like but I simply cannot think of any just now.

Today I had this huge burst of energy and I feel awake for the first time in ages :D. I have got so much done, nice clean flat and my assignment is over half done! Hopefully it will continue for tomorrow at least when I have this big project day doing activities about skills and aspirations, where I will have to deal with 60 10/11 year olds who all hate each other and fight when they get together!

MrsSam, has he got one of those funky octopusses with different textures? I don't know if they sell them, but the boy I babysit (who's now 8 hence why I'm wondering if they're still around) had one and sod if he liked it, I LOVED it!!

Pixie - I'm glad you've had a productive day :) Let's hope it continues xx

Does he have a boumcer? Either a door one or one of those with toys all around (jumperoo?). You can mix some angel delight up with water and let him 'paint' with it.

Katy I hope your energy levels continue to rise!

He does have an octopus although he likes freddy his Lamaze butterfly the most!

He also has a door bouncer but haven't tried him for few weeks. Will do tomorrow. The angel delight is a good idea for when he is older :)

He decided to steal my pen today and copy off me by scribbling all over. Was so cute. Lasted about 2 minutes before je tried to eat the pen and it had to be removed. Haha.

He's started properly teething too. Bless him, can't feel any teeth so think it may be while before we get a totally happy boy back although really I can't complain as he's only a tiny bit grouchy.

If you're weaning him a little bit won't harm'him you can get it'in sugar free varieties, my friend used it as a game for her disabled daughter when trying to wean her when she gets the taste she'd keep eating. She was 18months ish but her development was so delayed that it would have been a wsste of time trying before then

Sugar free would be good. That's what I was worried about the sugar!

How is everyone's little ones?

My little angel is supposed to be sleeping after long non-sleepy weekend at daddy's. Heard her going upstairs, my bro followed her, she's/emptied talcum powder out everywhere. Why do they do these things?

Sorry not been about much, been really busy with work :(

We've had a break through Faith eating meat...When she's at nursery, she'll quite happily eat meat and fish...She had 2 bowls of fish in a parsley sauce, veg and potatoes a couple of weeks ago, and had mince with potatoes last week and ate it all. We were out for lunch on Friday so ordered her sausage, mashed potatoes and peas...Had to sit and tell her to pit a sausage in her mouth and chew. She ate three tiny bits which is good for her and I did the same with chicken dippers the other week which she would have eaten about one out of the three I put on her plate! xx

If she's eating it at nursery she doesn't really need it at home too . Is she ok with peanuts? You could try peanut butter sandwiches as it has protein in it.

my little one has been abit grizzly for a few weeks because he is teething (we can feel a teeth in his gums) but he is really good and still sleeps through the night and he loves his teething ring. Also it sounds abit rough but if you hold him and he takes his own weight in his legs (like he does a lot) then you kind of drop him (but still holding him) he laughs his head off (i didnt descirbe that well sorry) also he loves being an airoplane above our head and then we lower him really fast i love the way that he has like a propper personality aswell when we put him in a baby swing yesterday he just looked really worried and pissed off and was staring at the floor like "whhhattt is going on" it was adorable.

he is seeing the peadatrician on friday about his refulx, im happy because we have been waiting for over a month for this appointment but then i nervouse encase they say either "you are making a fuss of nothing" (which would mean they would think we are just annoying parents) or they say "he needs to have an operation" because he is still not gaining weight and is now quite low down in the 2nd centile and the medication to stop the acid in his stomach has made him eat more but he is still being very sick so not gaining.

he is such a happy little fella though that people are shocked when they see how much he is sick and i tell them he hasnt gained more then 4 grams in 4 weeks! so at least he is happy

We are going to the in-laws tomorrow and are going to be telling them they are going to be grandparents!

I've not tried her with peanut better as I'm too scared to due to my sister having a severe peanut allergy. I know its just immediate family that usually passes it on but still wary xx
