On the other side of it I once interviewed a kid for a science course and I asked him to tell us something sciency that he'd done and he spent ages telling me how he freezes live frogs then disects them. My colleague said "you do know sometimes they're just hibernating when frozen" and he replied with oh yeah that happened once and it thawed and hopped off!
On the other side our boss likes to ask awkward questions such as what side of the bed do you sleep on (he's religious and asks this to people to see if they share a bed!).
