Thanks Greyscale. I'm not really worried about visiting certain places or my safety, etc. I know every place has its problems and that I will certainly see some of it as a tourist anyway.
I'm always quite cautious of where I keep my wallet and phone so I would be extra careful abroad.
Also I so badly want to see redwoods. I'm a horticulturist by profession and redwoods have always been my favourite trees so I will not be leaving California until I've seen some. =D I wanted to see General Sherman but I think it's a bit out of the way and maybe not easily accessible in February (?) but I have heard there are some good places to see them near San Francisco too.
