I've got chronic migraine, which hasn't gone away, but I have it almost under control with a TCA (amitriptyline). I was on a beta-blocker before, which also controlled it. If your prophylactics aren't working as well as they should ideally, perhaps talk to your doctor about trying a different one. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error before you find one that actually works. But if you've only had your propranolol increased recently, give it some time, it might work for you.
About migraines self-resolving, from what I've read, it can really go either way: sometimes it gets better throughout your lifetime, sometimes it gets worse, sometimes it stays the same. It seems like there's no way to know.
