Multi-impulsive personality traits
I saw my gp today and she showed me the letter on screen that the psychiatrist i saw for my eating disorder had sent her. There were 3 things she put as my diagnosis, the 3rd one said 'multi-impulsive personality traits'.
I asked my gp what that meant and she said its the self-harm.

Traits are just some symptoms of a disorder without being bad enough to be a disorder, right? And would multi-impulsive personality be relating to emotionally unstable/borderline PD??
So would that be why the psych wrote that, coz shes referring to my self-harm? Because ive only seen her once and we talked about my eating and history with depression and self-harm, so im not sure whay else she could have deduced from that!

sorry if thats confusing. i tend to over-think about things, i think.

Concidering that its Multi, meaning more than one....I would imagine its is talking about both self harm and ED

They are both seen as "impulsive" behaviours....so that I think would show you what the diagnosis is

If that makes sense?

Well the first 2 diagnosis' were anorexia and depression, which i knew about anyway. So i guess shes just kinda summarising the self-harm and ED with that 3rd bit then?

I don't think she's referring to a personality disorder. If so she'd have specified. I sense that she's meaning, as you say, the different kinds of impulsivity - food and self injury, that your personality tends to in an attempt to help you cope with everything.
Best thing is to ask her when you see her again. :)

no i didnt think she meant a personality disorder either because she only mentioned traits.
oh well, whatever hey
