Christmas raffle

Ok guys, I think it's time we bring a bit of community spirit back and do a holiday raffle.
Who's with me?

non volo 13-11-2016 08:30 PM

I suppose so

Iamcatbug 13-11-2016 08:55 PM

Given some of the drama this has caused in the past, I'm not sure it is the best idea..

not_so_insig 13-11-2016 09:06 PM

Wouldn't you need mod permission for this? I think anything that you have to give out addresses for generally has.

dizzy_cow 13-11-2016 09:14 PM

I'm trying to see if enough people want it to be worth it. I'll ask mod permission but Andy is cool with it.

*I did say to ask Cam though as it'd be her decision!

So you're NOT The One And Only King And Ruler of RYL????

glitterfairy 14-11-2016 09:20 AM

I'd be intetested

dizzy_cow 14-11-2016 11:59 AM

At the very least i'd like to start a christmas card list for people who perhaps won't get very many this year. If you are interested PM me.

not_so_insig 14-11-2016 01:20 PM

Honestly you would be better off getting a definite answer from a mod before soliciting for contact details.

dizzy_cow 14-11-2016 06:36 PM

did you conveniently forget to look at the reply? this is why no one likes community spirit. Crikey, shoot me for caring. It's not like i'm going to spam you all with nudey mag subscriptions. Gosh.

whirlpools 14-11-2016 06:47 PM

It is a really appreciated thought, and an idea brought generously to the community. I hope that, whatever the decision, it can be acknowledged that there is still a wish for us to be able to come together in support of each-other.

not_so_insig 14-11-2016 07:17 PM

I am concerned about members information being misused rather than lack of community spirit. I know that generally anything that requires contact information requires mod permission. If a mod wants to approve it then I fully support you. I know that in the past Christmas card exchanges have been generally mooted by the mods. I think that you have genuinely misunderstood me I am saying that you should wait for mod approval before asking for contact information.

Besides there are other ways to do Christmas spirit other than asking for contact addresses. For example you could have a Christmas themed photo competition (no prizes) or an community advent calendar. For example a member picks a date and on that date they post a Christmas themed picture. We could have a Christmas tree competition. A Christmas themed poetry competition. That's what I can think of on top of my head. There are many ways to build community spirit without needing people's addresses.

This is a lovely idea, it's great to see people wanting to spread some festive fun!

As there are always risks attached when giving addresses/contact details out online, please could anyone who would like to run anything like this please email the mods at moderators@recoveryourlife.com and then if the idea is given the OK, you'll be welcome to post on the boards about it.

As this thread has somewhat lost its original purpose and also because such initiatives do need mod approval first, we're going to close this thread for now.
