It's an interesting thing. I think it does work, but not in an oversimplified way it is often presented. Life can give you lessons, and karma can punish you...but only if you think you're guilty yourself. It wouldn't punish those who don't think they've done anything wrong.

For me, it's perceived "sense of humour" or "sarcasm" that is actually just them constantly being rude for no reason and thinking it's funny and clever, even though it doesn't seem funny or clever to anybody else.
