Word Twister
Right foot blue.
An easy one, except there is strategy in the first move. Our knees clash, yours solid, mine bony. ‘I think we need a break’ Right hand green. Elbows collide as we jostle for position. Left hand yellow. A pause, but thoughts are mush and my brain is mush and my stomach is mush and you are going in for the kill. I resent you now, more than ever, for your ability to out-do me. To do this to me. Right hand red. My palm rushes to reach lust, blood and pain. Accusations stream and overflow: ‘I don’t like to say this but –‘ ‘You’ve changed’ ‘What do you mean?’ ‘You’re lying’ You say May, I plead for January. We jest and jostle with words, trying to out-maneuver each other. You push, I shunt back with a spare, ‘you’re too clingy’. A knee like a shovel in my chest: ‘you don’t care about me anymore’. Both our worlds crumble and collapse. Blues, greens, yellows and reds crumple. We are bankrupt. Empty. Memories smeared into the floor. No-one tidies up. No-one laughs. |
This is amazing.
The metaphor is beautiful, and it feels so relatable. Thank you for sharing. |
Thank you
