Ringing in Ears from O.D. ...is there any way to lessen it?

So I overdosed the other day and when I woke up this morning my ears were absolutely roaring from that horrible ear ringing you can get.

I tried to put the shower on and it almost ****ing deafened me.

I've been able to cancel arrangements with a friend for meeting up today so I can avoid people while I get over this *mostly*. But tomorrow I have to see my grandparents which I cannot get out of, and I don't want to be wincing every time they speak.

Is there anything I can do? Would drinking a shitload of water help or something?

thanks :P

I found with time it lessens. I still get it sometimes but not as often as I used to.

If you OD'd a a couple of days ago and haven't yet recieved medical attention, you need to do so.

Hope it lessens soon - it's a really annoying noise!

Yeah I mean usually it goes after 3/4 days with me, but it's just so much worse than I remember it >< I haven't OD'd in so long it was just a bit of a shock.

...erm... this might be a weird/unrelated question but are you a fan of the Dresden Dolls? :P

Ringing in the ears happens when cells inside your ear send sound messages to your brain that they are injured or over stimulated.Depending on what you OD'ed on, certain medications when taken in high doses cause damage to the hearing or sensory sensitivity.

It seems your looking for a quick cure, so this is the only thing that comes to mind:

In medical school, I learned that people who suffered from regular tinnitus could increase the circulation in the inner ear and reduce the ringing by supplementing orally or incorporating them in their diet.

They do sell a pill that incorporates a combination of vitamins and bio-flavonoid, its called "Lipo-Flavonoid" that should substitute as a quick fix.
You can buy it over the counter at your local pharmacy.

Hope that helps!

Get better soon!

P.S. Dresden Dolls rock.

I am indeed!

How are you feeling today?

Yay two Dresden Doll fans on here :D I'm a lot better thanks :) I slept it off and my hearing is almost back to normal and stomach pains are all gone. :)
I think my low moods are making me more reckless/impulsive, it had been months since my last OD. Going to try and avoid it in future ><
