How long does an NHS referral take?

I was referred to a child Psychiatrist about 4 weeks ago now..my GP said he has put me on the priority list apparently, but didn't say how long I'd be waiting? Anyone know how long a referral takes? :/ thanks!

It really depends how urgent.
I think my last referral, I saw them about 6 weeks later maybe? But it was Christmas (I'm a student, so away), so that delayed things.

Depends a lot on the area you live in as well

I've waited 6 weeks before, but more recently I had to wait a year. It depends on the service, the demand on that service and your area. I also waited 6 months for my ED referral to the maudsley. So its very much varies, none of us can really say. Unfortunately I don't think they even have limits on how long someone can be expected to wait for either. Good luck, I hope it works out for you. It can be anything from a week to a year, it depends on how busy they are and stuff.
