How i decided to spend my birthday moneys

I've wanted a duck for AGES, we already have chickens in the garden but i've always wanted an indoor duck.

So now, with my birthday money i am buying everything i need for the arrival of my little baby duck  Just trying to find a uk place that makes duck diaper/harnesses and i'll be fine! (if only i could sew x-x)

Does anyone else have a duck?

Awww sounds cute you will have to post pics when you get him/her

Childerbeast 08-06-2009 08:23 AM

I shall :D I'm currently trying to resist getting some duckling diapers harnesses etc from a US site as it will cost me a bomb in postage, though the actual things are decently priced :(

You're getting a duck?
I'm so insanely jealous.
I've always wanted a duck.

I would call it Count Duckula.

Childerbeast 08-06-2009 09:04 AM

Hehe i was thinking of calling it crispy...i already have a chicken called omelett though so maybe i should keep away from food names for pets lest the cats get the wrong idea :P

Rodolphus 08-06-2009 09:07 AM

Does your cat not try to munch up your Chicken?

Omelett is a fantastic name for a chicken, by the way xD

I still think Duckula is a fairly good name for a duck =P
People talk about naming kittens and the such all the time, but there's never any discussions about naming pet ducks...

If anything, our chickens try to munch up the cats! We share a garden with our neighbours, and they have just gotten a dog, which regularly gets told off and chased by the chickens.

Our cats arent even interested in the chickens, and since ducks hold their own far more than most chickens we are hoping it will be the same with the duckling (with careful supervision whilst s/he is still mouth sized :P) The cats tend to just respect its a house pet n loose interest. Like we have rabbits roaming free in the garden, which the cats ignore. But they still bring in wild rabbits.

But yes any gender free names are appreciated, duckula is pretty cool but only if its a drake :P

(also if anyone knows how to put a diaper on a duck...lol)

*stares* most people buy clothes, a video game or new CD's. something like that.

I have never heard of someone who had spent their birthday money on a duck before.

Yours is a uniquely interesting life.

^ Agreed!

You must post some pics when you get him/her!

I am so jealous.

I still can't get over this.
xD

It's kind of cool.

But... a duck?

I thought people bought like, hamsters and stuff.

edit: Also: 'indoor duck' is my favourite phrase as of right now.

Childerbeast 08-06-2009 12:46 PM

Hehe, im hoping to get it today, we've been out and got lots of food, toys and a warm fuzz bed for it. (and some premature baby nappies) Now all i need is my duck!

whirlpools 08-06-2009 01:27 PM

a duck is an amazing idea :D i want to see photos too.
but the idea of a nappy on a duck really disturbs me...

Childerbeast 08-06-2009 02:21 PM

Try the idea of changing a nappy from a duck - now thats disturbing. Luckily its only for whilst its indoors. We have a massive garden for it to play in, nappy free :P
