Audio Books
I have found audio books really helpful when unable to sleep (like now really). Especially those based around tv programmes. I've CDs of The Vicar of Dibley and also some dramatised recordings of some of jane austens works and paddington bear - none are particularly taxing but that's the point of them.
It had never occured to me to try them before, but someone I met on another forum suggested it - I had a couple of free audio CDs from a newspaper so gave them a go and found it helpful. So... am I alone in listening to audio books???? If I'm not, then which do you listen to??? x |
it would be good to listen to them trying to get to sleep. one of my friends has tinnitus & finds it really hard to get to sleep so he listens to random audio books or to those radio stations just with talking all night.
the only ones i've listened to is palahniuk's fight club (bad) and harry potter (worse). |
Harry Potter?! Hm. Think I'll pass on those :-)

I used to be given the latest Harry Potter on tape every Christmas so I listened to them a lot. I actually really liked the books, and I knew them so well that playing the tapes was like background noise so it sent me off to sleep really quickly. On my ipod I have some Just William, some Agatha Christe's (but I can't sleep with them as they have creepy music at the murders), Angela'a Ashes and Pride and Prejudice. I can't listen to music to sleep, has to be a story. But I can sleep without tapes now, didn't used to be able to.

I have New Moon by Stephenie Meyer on audiobook. It's awesome because the woman does different voices on it. Makes me giggle. Really helps me to get to sleep. It's 14 hours long though O.O
Though, Harry Potter is longer. |
