Swimming and steri strips

Is it ok to swim while having steri strips on a wound?

You really should avoid it if at all possible. There are tons of nasty bacteria that live in water, or irritating chemicals they put in the water to treat it. It would be much better if you waited until the wound has healed before you go swimming.

Also, you can't get steri-strips wet and there are very few waterproof dressings that are actually totally affective when swimming. Most swimming pools actually adivise that if anyone has a cut/ any broken skin then not to swim because of thebacteria in the water/ clorine levels which can affect healing. If it is not in a pool you have even more of a problem with bacteria and the infections that can be caused may be very nasty.
