Different times
Hi everyone.

Does anyone have a particular time of day when self injury or suicide thoughts are worse?

Soft Kitty 29-09-2019 07:37 PM

I voted morning (very early morning) and evening (late evening).

Do you tend to have better or worse times?

tamobhuuta 29-09-2019 07:38 PM

Yes, mornings are worse for me.

nonperson 29-09-2019 07:40 PM

Having trouble deciding on an answer for that but I've ticked morning, particularly when I don't have to get up to be somewhere like work or have things to keep me occupied.

chinahorse 29-09-2019 10:01 PM

Night and evening for me.

one_step_closer 30-09-2019 11:08 AM

I think morning is the only time I'm not too bad with urges, most of the time anyway.

tamobhuuta 10-10-2019 08:29 PM

The past couple of days I have been avoiding the support forums here in the morning and I think it is helping the morning thoughts and urges.

one_step_closer 11-10-2019 02:33 PM

That's a really good idea and I'm glad it's helping. Don't feel like you have to be around the support forums at all if it's bad for you.

tamobhuuta 24-10-2019 12:16 PM

I know mornings are usually worse for me. I just ignore the urges and thoughts but I wondered if anyone had ideas for actually decreasing them?

one_step_closer 24-10-2019 12:23 PM

Can you figure out what it is about the morning that makes the urges worse? Are you lower than the rest of the day, or tired, or what? Maybe if you can figure that out you could look at ways to help with those things and that might lessen the urges.

tamobhuuta 24-10-2019 02:51 PM

I think it's partly because in the morning I have the whole day ahead of me.

one_step_closer 24-10-2019 02:59 PM

What is it about having the whole day ahead of you that's difficult? Would it help to plan things the night before or write a list of plans in the morning? Do you feel like there's too much time to occupy yourself or too much that you need to get done? I know it's hard not to focus on all the time that is ahead of you but if it's overwhelming then could you practice mindfulness/trying to stay in the moment?

tamobhuuta 24-10-2019 03:55 PM

I suppose I know I'm going to feel anxious and scared and i might have to fight voices. I've been going to church every morning so I have opportunities to buy blades and pills. But I love going to Mass and having a walk.

one_step_closer 24-10-2019 06:51 PM

Those are a lot of worries to have, and they are still mights not definite so it's a shame that you're getting caught up in that worry. It's good that you have Mass to go to, maybe you could try and focus on that and the walk rather than the bad things that you fear might happen. You've been doing really well, you are stronger than the urges etc, and I hope that with time you find it less of a fight.

Darkwings44 24-10-2019 10:34 PM

:ermm: ......... i checked all of them....cause its mostly all day.....

tamobhuuta 25-10-2019 12:00 PM

Sorry to hear that dark wings, thanks for doing the poll.

tamobhuuta 28-10-2019 10:30 AM

The more I have to do in a day, the more stressed I feel.

one_step_closer 28-10-2019 01:31 PM

It is stressful to have lots of things to be getting on with. Do you find yourself thinking lots about what you need to be doing next even when you're doing something else? It would be good if you could stay in the moment more with things and not see a huge picture of all the things you need to do with your day.

tamobhuuta 29-10-2019 08:46 PM

I think I already live in the moment. Apart from those minutes between getting dressed and leaving the house. Maybe that lingers during the day?

one_step_closer 30-10-2019 10:28 AM

Is that the most anxious time for you, before you get your day properly started?

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 04:09 PM.
